Carbonates from Santos Basin revealed U–Pb ages correlated with basalt ages (A), suggesting that they were formed during magmatic events. These events placed hot CO2 in the reservoir, which, when mixed with carbonate‐rich cold water (B), led to thermal convection, enabling the formation of the U contained in the carbonates.

Geothermal energy prospectivity in the Hutton Sandstone, Eromanga Basin, Australia
The Cooper and Eromanga Basins of Australia, with old and hot basement rocks, offer promise for geothermal exploration. The basement rock radioactive decay has high radiogenic heat production exceeding 5 microwatts per cubic meter. The basement structure

Abstract The 2021–2022 Fukushima‐Oki earthquakes in northeastern Japan provide a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding of intraslab earthquakes generated by the reactivation of subducted outer‐rise bending faults. This study integrates high‐resolution seismic velocity models with numerical modeling results to investigate the roles of slab ...

A Tropically Hot Late Jurassic North American Sundance Sea: Evidence for the Oxfordian Warm Interval
Abstract The Late Jurassic greenhouse climate was characterized by elevated atmospheric CO2 (pCO2) at 600–1,000 ppm and sea‐surface temperatures substantially warmer than today. These conditions peaked during the Oxfordian, when extensive epicontinental seaways, including the North American Sundance Sea, dominated mid‐latitude paleoceanography.

Abstract The accretion of allochthonous provinces, derived from oceanic plates, has traditionally been considered an important contributor to continental growth. However, increasing evidence shows that some oceanic terranes (e.g., island arcs) are not “exotic,” as suggested by the presence of continental‐derived sedimentary provenance.

Abstract Alluvial systems are dynamic, structurally complex environments. Groundwater that is extracted from these systems is widely used for domestic consumption. Numerical models play an important role in the management of this extraction. To provide support for decision‐making, models must assimilate data that inform the spatial and temporal ...

Quasi – biological model of radiogenic cancer morbidity
The methods: Linear differential equations were used to formalize contemporary assumptions of self –sustaining tissue cell kinetics under the impact of adverse factors, on the formation and repairing of cell “pre-cancer” defects, on inheritance and ...

Improved radiation risk models applied to different patient groups in Sweden
In radiological diagnostics and therapy, it is important that practitioners, referrers, (i.e. radiologists, radiation oncologists and others in health-care) are aware of how much radiation a patient may receive from the various procedures used and ...
