Radioisotope Dilution Technique for Determination of Vitamin B12 in Foods [PDF]
Abstract A radioisotope dilution (RID) method for the determination of vitamin B12 is presented. The method combines a standard extraction procedure (AOAC 43.108,12th ed.) with a commercially available RID assay kit. The method was evaluated on a wide range of fortified and unfortified food products.

Interaction between nuclear-translocated cellular communication network factor 2 and purine-rich box 1 regulates the expression of fibrosis-related genes. [PDF]
Although cellular communication network factor 2 (CCN2) is secreted out to the extracellular environment, intracellular CCN2 rather than re‐incorporated CCN2 from the outside may be involved in its translocation into the nuclei, because translocation of CCN2 into the nucleus was not disturbed by soluble heparin.

Modulation of the Neurovascular Unit by the Locus Coeruleus-Norepinephrine System: From Physiological Mechanisms to Therapeutic Applications. [PDF]
The locus coeruleus (LC)–norepinephrine (NE) system significantly influences the structure and function of the neurovascular unit (NVU). The activation degree and firing patterns of LC–NE neurons, as well as the release amount and action sites of NE, profoundly impact the neurons, glial cells, and cerebrovascular components of the NVU.

Serum vitamin B12 from 6 sheep fed a diet containing 0.06 mg cobalt per kg dry matter (DM) was analysed by a radioisotope dilution (RID) technique. The results were compared with values obtained by a microbiological method (Lactobacillus leichmannii - ATCC 7830) specific for "true" vitamin B12.

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact
An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Highly sensitive assay of HMG-CoA reductase activity by LC-ESI-MS/MS
We have developed a new sensitive and specific nonradioisotope assay method to measure the activity of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-controlling enzyme in the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway.

Sedimentological and geochemical characteristics are used to reconstruct sedimentation dynamics and erosional processes. Several rapidly deposited layers are characterised over changing depositional environments during the Late Holocene, from a phase when the lake was connected to the sea to a more stable state conducive to varve formation.

Abstract Separation and pyrolysis of the solid fractions of biogas digestate and animal slurry offer potential solutions to environmental and logistical challenges associated with direct slurry application as fertilizer. However, thermochemical transformations during pyrolysis typically reduce P availability.
