Experimental determination of layer cloud edge charging from cosmic ray ionisation [PDF]
The cloud-air transition zone at stratiform cloud edges is an electrically active region where droplet charging has been predicted. Cloud edge droplet charging is expected from vertical flow of cosmic ray generated atmospheric ions in the global electric

In the tropical region, convective rain is a dominant rain event. However, very little information is known about the convective rain melting layer. In this paper, S-band dual-polarized radar data is studied in order to identify both the stratiform and ...

Completeness of radiosonde humidity observations based on the Integrated Global Radiosonde Archive [PDF]
Abstract. Radiosonde measurements from the 1930s to present give unique information on the distribution and variability of water vapor in the troposphere. The sounding data from the Integrated Global Radiosonde Archive (IGRA) Version 2 are examined here until the end of 2016, aiming to describe the completeness of humidity observations (simultaneous ...

Altitude dependence of atmospheric temperature trends: Climate models versus observation [PDF]
As a consequence of greenhouse forcing, all state of the art general circulation models predict a positive temperature trend that is greater for the troposphere than the surface.

Relative humidity vertical profiling using lidar-based synergistic methods in the framework of the Hygra-CD campaign [PDF]
Accurate continuous measurements of relative hu- midity (RH) vertical profiles in the lower troposphere have become a significant scientific challenge. In recent years a synergy of various ground-based remote sensing instru- ments have been successfully ...

Features of navigational radiosonde coordinate data processing for high resolution windfinding [PDF]
Upper-air sounding systems (UASS) are the main means of obtaining aerological information to provide short-term and long-term weather forecasts, prevention of natural and anthropogenic catastrophes, etc.

Thermodynamic and microphysical properties of summertime marine fog observed from Sable Island
Atmospheric profiling and near‐surface fog and visibility measurements revealed synoptic‐scale forcing as the dominant factor in fog formation over Sable Island, with deep fog layers under low‐pressure systems and shallow fog layers under high‐pressure systems.

Assessment of the potential of MERIS near-infrared water vapour products to correct ASAR interferometric measurements [PDF]
Atmospheric water vapour is a major limitation for high precision Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) applications due to its significant impact on microwave signals.
