Neo-adjuvant radiotherapy in rectal cancer

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastroenterology, 2013
In rectal cancer treatment, attention has focused on the local primary tumour and the regional tumour cell deposits to diminish the risk of a loco-regional recurrence. Several large randomized trials have also shown that combinations of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy have markedly reduced the risk of a loco-regional recurrence, but this has not

Keloid treatment: what about adjuvant radiotherapy?

open access: yesClinical, cosmetic and investigational dermatology, 2019
Background: Keloids are debilitating fibrous skin proliferations with a high recurrence rate after surgical treatment. Postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) is a well-tolerated adjuvant treatment to reduce the risk of recurrence, but the optimal regimen for this combined treatment remains unknown.

PRDM1+ Malignant Cells Mediate an Immunosuppressive Landscape and Resistance to Neoadjuvant Chemoradiotherapy and Immunotherapy in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated scRNA‐seq, scTCR‐seq analysis, and functional assays identify PRDM1+ malignant epithelial cells with hyper lipid peroxidation characteristics that demonstrate reduced responsiveness to the nICRT treatment. Principal factor PRDM1 activates cysteine metabolism genes to modulate lipid peroxidation (an intrinsic cellular pathway related to ...

Outcomes of definitive radiotherapy vs. laryngectomy followed by adjuvant radiotherapy in patients with locally advanced laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma: real-world experience in a referral cancer center

open access: yesRadiation Oncology
Background Laryngeal cancer is a common head and neck cancer. Surgical treatment can impair patients’ voice and swallowing function, making definitive radiotherapy a viable alternative for locally advanced cases.

Adjuvant Carboplatin and Paclitaxel Chemotherapy Followed by Radiotherapy in High-Risk Endometrial Cancer: A Retrospective Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Global Oncology, 2018
Purpose: The best adjuvant treatment in high-risk endometrial cancer remains unclear. Although adjuvant chemotherapy seems to improve overall survival (OS) in locally advanced disease, the role of adding radiotherapy is not certain.

Soft‐Drug‐Inspired MnSTF Nano‐Adjuvant for Safe and Synergistic cGAS–STING Activation in Tumor Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces MnSTF, a soft‐drug‐inspired nanoadjuvant that overcomes the systemic toxicity of STING agonists. Through Mn2+ coordination with an ENPP1 inhibitor, it enables safe cGAS‐STING activation, remodels the tumor immune microenvironment, and synergizes with radiotherapy or vaccines to elicit robust antitumor immunity.

Stimuli‐Responsive Supramolecular Biomaterials for Cancer Theranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ultimate goal of cancer theranostics is to get imaging agents and therapeutic cargo to tumor sites when and where they are required. “Smart” systems should be developed. This review discusses the characteristics of physiological stimuli, types and action modes of external stimuli, construction approaches and working principles, as well as ...

Effectiveness of Adjuvant Chemo- and Radiotherapy in Thymic Carcinoma Stage II: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesCancer Control
Background Thymic carcinoma is a rare tumor arising from the epithelial thymic tissue, yet among mediastinal tumors, it is the most common malignant entity. Thymic carcinoma often causes no symptoms and is incidentally discovered.

Pathomics Signature for Prognosis and CA19‐9 Interception in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma: A Real‐Life, Multi‐Center Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a deep learning‐based pathomics model to predict survival outcomes in pancreatic cancer patients. The CrossFormer architecture analyzes routine H&E‐stained tissue slides, identifying key prognostic features including stromal patterns, cellular characteristics, and immune infiltration.
