Skin toxicity after radiotherapy. About a case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A 60-year-old woman was admitted to the Department complaining of a slow growing mass in the right knee. Physical examination demonstrated a mass on the postero-lateral aspect of the right knee, which was not tender or mobile, however was rubbery and ...

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Intraoperative radiation therapy for the treatment of recurrent retroperitoneal and pelvic tumors: a single-institution analysis

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2018
Background Patients with recurrent retroperitoneal and pelvic region tumors often require multimodal therapies. Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) can deliver high-dose radiation to tumor beds, even if first-line external beam radiation therapy ...

Development and operation of a pixel segmented liquid-filled linear array for radiotherapy quality assurance

open access: yes, 2004
A liquid isooctane (C$_{8}$H$_{18}$) filled ionization linear array for radiotherapy quality assurance has been designed, built and tested. The detector consists of 128 pixels, each of them with an area of 1.7 mm $\times$ 1.7 mm and a gap of 0.5 mm.

Intranasal melanoma treated with radiation therapy in three dogs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Three dogs were investigated for chronic unilateral nasal discharge. In all cases CT imaging showed an intranasal mass causing turbinate lysis and no evidence of metastasis.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Impact of magnetic resonance-guided versus conventional radiotherapy workflows on organ at risk doses in stereotactic body radiotherapy for lymph node oligometastases

open access: yesPhysics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology, 2022
Background and purpose: Magnetic resonance (MR)-linac delivery is expected to improve organ at risk (OAR) sparing. In this study, OAR doses were compared for online adaptive MR-linac treatments and conventional cone beam computed tomography (CBCT)-linac ...

Multi‐omic characterization of consensus molecular subtype 1 (CMS1) colorectal cancer with dampened immune response improves precision medicine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study highlights the importance of multi‐omic analyses in characterizing colorectal cancers. Indeed, our analysis revealed a rare CMS1 exhibiting dampened immune activation, including reduced PD‐1 expression, moderate CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, and suppressed JAK/STAT pathway.

RapidPlan knowledge based planning: iterative learning process and model ability to steer planning strategies

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2019
Purpose To determine if the performance of a knowledge based RapidPlan (RP) planning model could be improved with an iterative learning process, i.e. if plans generated by an RP model could be used as new input to re-train the model and achieve better ...

A rare cause of acute abdomen: radiotherapy-induced bladder rupture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: Spontaneous intraperitoneal rupture of the bladder, which is rare, is a life-threatening condition. In emergency services, when patients present with lower quadrant abdominal pain and acute renal failure in the patient's laboratory findings
