A chorismate mutase from Radopholus similis plays an essential role in pathogenicity

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
In the process of infecting plants, plant parasitic nematodes release a series of proteins that play an essential role in the successful infection and pathogenesis of plant cells and tissues through stylets or body walls.

Response of East African highland bananas and hybrids to Radopholus similis

open access: yesNematology, 2005
AbstractThe burrowing nematode, Radopholus similis, is a serious threat to sustainable banana production worldwide. A promising way of controlling nematodes is through the development and deployment of resistant cultivars. This usually involves crossing triploid cultivars with fertile diploids to produce tetraploids that generally display greater male ...

Comparative influence of Radopholus similis and Pratylenchus coffeae on citrus.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2010
Pratylenchus coffeae was as pathogenic as Radopholus sirnilis to commercial citrus rootstocks. No rootstock resistant to R. similis was resistant to P. coffeae. Both nematodes stunted citrus in three soil types. Seedling damage by P. coffeae and R. similis was greatest in fine- and coarse-textured soils, respectively.

Reproductive Strategies and Karyotype of the Burrowing Nematode, Radopholus similis.

open access: yesJournal of nematology, 2011
Karyotype, gametogenesis, and gonad morphology were characterized for 56 Radopholus spp. isolates collected from Africa, Australia, Central America, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Puerto Rico, North America (Florida), and Hawaii. Seven of the isolates, all collected from Florida, were citrus-parasitic.

Spent Pleurotus ostreatus Substrate Has Potential for Controlling the Plant-Parasitic Nematode, Radopholus similis in Bananas

open access: yesAgronomy
Spent mushroom substrate (SMS), a waste product from mushroom cultivation, in addition to being rich in essential nutrients for crop growth, contains actively growing mushroom mycelia and metabolites that suppress some plant pathogens and pests. SMS thus
