Particulate matter and metals partitioning in highway rainfall-runoff
Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering in China, 2010This study investigated the particulate matter (PM) and metals in highway dry deposition and rainfall-runoff as a function of hydrologic transport and settling on an event basis. Events were differentiated as mass-limited (ML) and flow-limited (FL).

Partitioning of rainfall and snowmelt between trees and streams in the Swiss Alps
2022<p>The hydrologic cycle in Switzerland relies heavily on snowmelt sustaining streamflows during spring and summer. Climate warming will shrink the regional coverage of seasonal snowpacks thereby leading to an earlier onset of snowmelt, which in turn will alter streamflow regimes.

Rainfall plays a vital role in Indian agriculture hence economy of the country, but very crucial and risky due to its erratic/ unpredictable behavior and uneven distribution. Since monsoonal vagaries in eastern India are very frequent hence involve a great risk in Argil. Production and quality of atmosphere at desired level.

Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, 2019
Abstract Understanding the interaction between the hydrological cycle and native forests is essential to improve watershed management and support ecological services. The objectives of this study were to analyse and evaluate rainfall interception models applied to an ecosystem from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest Biome (BAFB), classified as “Montane ...

Rainfall partitioning by vegetation in China
Rainfall partitioning into stemflow, throughfall, and interception loss by vegetation alters hydrological and biogeochemical fluxes between vegetation and soil, and further affects water and nutrient balances at local, catchment, and regional scales. Here, we compiled a comprehensive dataset of rainfall partitioning by vegetation (forests, shrublands ...Yafeng Zhang +3 more

Abstract The effects of vertical wind shear, radiation and ice clouds on the torrential rainfall event over Jinan, China during July 2007 are investigated through a rainfall partitioning analysis based on surface rainfall budget. All experiments are integrated with an imposed large-scale vertical velocity and zonal wind from the National Centers for ...

Importance of transitional leaf states in canopy rainfall partitioning dynamics
European Journal of Forest Research, 2018The temporal dynamics of forest canopy rainfall partitioning are important to forest ecology and management as it influences all subsequent hydrological processes along the rainfall-to-discharge flow path. Despite a growing body of literature on the importance of coupled hydrological–ecological interactions during periodic forest life cycle events ...

The partition of a region into rainfall districts: With special reference to South Africa
Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 1938AbstractA method is here presented for dividing any region into a number of rainfall districts on the basis of seasonal distribution of precipitation. This is accomplished by drawing on a map of the region two systems of lines of equal “phase” and equal “relative amplitude,” which are measures respectively of the epoch of maximum rainfall and of the ...

Rainfall partitioning in a deciduous forest plot in leafed and leafless periods
Ecohydrology, 2011ABSTRACTIn deciduous forests, it is particularly difficult to understand the factors controlling rainfall partitioning because of the seasonal changes of canopy cover. Moreover, under Mediterranean climate conditions, the marked seasonal variability of rainfall produces highly variable event‐based interception losses making comparison of throughfall ...

Partitioning of non rainfall water input regulated by soil cover type
CATENA, 2016Abstract In arid and semiarid environments, where precipitation is scarce and mainly limited to the wet season of the year, the water contribution by non-rainfall water inputs (NRWI) may play a significant role in the water balance. Natural ecosystems are heterogeneous with a great variety of surface covers, such as stones, biological soil crusts ...
