Noise of simulated rainfall on roofs

Applied Acoustics, 1990
Abstract New Zealand has problems with noise in buildings caused by rainfall. This is due to high rainfall rates and a lightweight style of building. Experimental and theoretical work has been carried out to examine the effect of various roof constructions on noise transmitted to rooms beneath the roof and to investigate the mechanisms of noise ...

A NEW RAINFALL SIMULATOR FOR USE IN LOW-ENERGY RAINFALL AREAS

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1998
A sound assessment of hydrologic and erosional responses in wildland and agricultural ecosystems to rainfall requires that rainfall simulators mimic natural rainfall. The accuracy and usefulness of the assessment improves with increased similarity between natural and simulated rainfall.

Error influence of radar rainfall estimate on rainfall-runoff simulation

Stochastic Environmental Research and Risk Assessment, 2015
Radar systems have been widely employed to measure precipitation and predict flood risks. However, radar as a rainfall measuring device and the produced rainfall estimate contain uncertainties and errors resulting from sources such as mis-calibration, beam blockage, anomalous propagation, and ground clutter.

Modelling the physical characteristics of simulated rainfall: a comparison with natural rainfall

Journal of Hydrology, 1997
The drop size distributions and the drop velocity function that characterize simulated rainfall at three intensities are modelled in terms of expressions developed for natural rainfall. As a result, the continuous relationship between kinetic energy per unit of mass (or time) and intensity is defined for the simulated case, and is compared with that ...

ELECTRONIC CONTROLS FOR RAINFALL SIMULATORS

Transactions of the ASAE, 1997
Rainfall simulators provide control of natural environmental factors such as rainfall intensity and duration to determine basic information on hydrologic and chemical processes within watersheds. Three electronic controllers were designed to provide a range of solutions to automate rainfall simulators.

A Critique of Methods of Simulating Rainfall

Water Resources Research, 1970
Observations of drop size distributions in natural rainfall have shown that the range of drop sizes increases with increasing rainfall intensity. If a network of nozzles is used to generate artificial rainfall, an increase in working pressure increases the average intensity but decreases the range of drop sizes within the spray.
