On the relations of the rainfall variability and distribution with the mean rainfall over India

Theoretical and Applied Climatology, 1991
Along with averages, rainfall variability and distribution are important climatological information. In this study, using 114 years (1871–1984) data of 306 stations, it is demonstrated that the variability and spatial distribution of annual, summer monsoon and monthly rainfall are highly dependent upon the respective period mean rainfall variation over

Uganda rainfall variability and prediction

Theoretical and Applied Climatology, 2017
This study analyzes large-scale controls on Uganda’s rainfall. Unlike past work, here, a May–October season is used because of the year-round nature of agricultural production, vegetation sensitivity to rainfall, and disease transmission. The Uganda rainfall record exhibits steady oscillations of ∼3 and 6 years over 1950–2013.

Dependence of Rainfall Variability on Mean Rainfall, Latitude, and the Southern Oscillation

Journal of Climate, 1990
Abstract The relationship between the relative variability of annual rainfall, the long-term mean annual rainfall, the latitude, and the correlation between annual rainfall and the Southern Oscillation Index is examined, using data from 974 stations. A nonlinear relationship between these variables accounts for 94% of the variance in annual rainfall ...

Trends and variability of rainfall in Mizoram

Disaster Advances
The cause of climate change detection is very tedious and complex phenomenon. The present study highlights the rainfall variability and has been identified using the nonparametric Mann-Kendall and Sen’s slope estimators over for 20 years from 2001- 2020. The non-parametric tests have been tested at the 5% level of significance. The non-parametric tests

Village-Level Farm Adjustment to Rainfall Variability

1988
The preceding three sections described a broad framework, consisting of public policies and scientific approaches to manage and harness the agroclimatic environment of the dry tropics in India. However, the final agency to be affected by the issues and measures discussed is the farmer.

Annual Variability Rainfall Maps of the Great Plains

Yearbook of the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers, 1937
T HE present study is undertaken in the belief that the theory of probabilities applied in a new way to weather data may offer an approach to more rational agricultural operations. The region selected is the Great Plains, an area admirably adaptable to a demonstration of the principle involved and, correlatively, an area where the need of applied ...
