Investigation of potassium-intercalated bulk MoS$_2$ using transmission electron energy-loss spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 101, 155429 (2020), 2020
We have investigated the effect of potassium (K) intercalation on $2H$-MoS$_2$ using transmission electron energy-loss spectroscopy. For K concentrations up to approximately 0.4, the crystals appear to be inhomogeneous with a mix of structural phases and irregular potassium distribution. Above this intercalation level, MoS$_2$ exhibits a $2a \times 2a$

Electronic structure of undoped and potassium doped coronene investigated by electron energy-loss spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 85, 014513 (2012), 2012
We performed electron energy-loss spectroscopy studies in transmission in order to obtain insight into the electronic properties of potassium intercalated coronene, a recently discovered superconductor with a rather high transition temperature of about 15\,K.

Evidence for phase formation in potassium intercalated 1,2;8,9-dibenzopentacene [PDF]

open access: yesEur. Phys. J. B 85, 242 (2012), 2012
We have prepared potassium intercalated 1,2;8,9-dibenzopentacene films under vacuum conditions. The evolution of the electronic excitation spectra upon potassium addition as measured using electron energy-loss spectroscopy clearly indicate the formation of particular doped phases with compositions K$_x$dibenzopentacene ($x$ = 1,2,3).

Characteristics of Single Pivotal Trials Supporting Regulatory Approvals of Novel Non‐orphan, Non‐oncology Drugs in the European Union and United States from 2012−2016

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, Page 361-370, July 2019., 2019
For regulatory approval of a new medicine, the gold standard for demonstration of efficacy has traditionally been a minimum of two positive, adequate, and well‐controlled clinical trials. Nevertheless, drugs to treat cancer and rare diseases are usually approved based on a single and often uncontrolled pivotal trial.

Burkitt Lymphoma of the Duodenum: An Uncommon Phenomenon

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastrointestinal Medicine, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Burkitt lymphoma is an aggressively growing tumor commonly found in African children, involving the jaw and facial bones. Most non‐Hodgkin lymphoma tumors involve extra nodal sites like the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. A rare variant of this type of lymphoma is found in immunocompromised patients specifically in the gastrointestinal tract

Generating potassium abundance variations in the Solar Nebula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
An intriguing aspect of chondritic meteorites is that they are complementary: while their separate components have wildly varying abundances, bulk chondrites have nearly solar composition. This implies that the nearly-solar reservoirs in which chondrites were born were in turn assembled from sub-reservoirs of differing compositions that birthed the ...

Efficacy, safety and patient‐reported outcomes of ledipasvir/sofosbuvir in NS3/4A protease inhibitor‐experienced individuals with hepatitis C virus genotype 1 and HIV coinfection with and without cirrhosis (ANRS HC31 SOFTRIH study)

open access: yesHIV Medicine, Volume 19, Issue 3, Page 227-237, March 2018., 2018
Objectives Studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of the fixed‐dose combination ledipasvir (LDV)/sofosbuvir (SOF) in patients coinfected with HIV‐1 and hepatitis C virus (HCV) have mainly included treatment‐naïve patients without cirrhosis. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this combination in treatment‐experienced patients with and ...

Extended Peritoneal Dialysis and Renal Recovery in HIV‐Infected Patients with Prolonged AKI: A Report of 2 Cases

open access: yesCase Reports in Nephrology, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) has recently been established as a treatment option for renal replacement therapy (RRT) in patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). Its efficacy in providing fluid and small solute removal has also been demonstrated in clinical trials and is equivalent to hemodialysis (HD).
