Selection of control, randomization, blinding, and allocation concealment
Clinical trials looking at which treatment is better must have certain checks in place. Appropriate "control" selection while comparing the investigating agent to the "control group is essential to rule out selection bias. Randomization is another step to minimize variability or "confounders." By randomization, research participants have an equal ...

Controlled Formation of Skyrmion Bags
This work demonstrates stabilization of complex magnetic skyrmion bags in ferromagnetic thin films through precisely engineered anisotropy defects using ion irradiation. The researchers achieve controlled field‐ and laser‐induced generation of skyrmionia, target skyrmions, and higher‐order skyrmion bags at room temperature. This reliable platform opens

Random allocation of jobs with weights and precedence
AbstractWe analyze random allocation applied to irregular and dynamic task-parallel programs such as branch and bound. The precedence between jobs is revealed on-line, and the processing times of jobs are diverse and unknown before job completion. The objective is to assign jobs to processors and to schedule them to minimize makespan.

The Rise of Refractory Transition‐Metal Nitride Films for Advanced Electronics and Plasmonics
Transition‐metal nitrides (TMNs) are exceptional materials with high stability, biocompatibility, and semiconductor integration, which have been extensively employed in various fields. However, the epitaxial growth of TMN films remains a challenge. The absence of high‐quality TMNs limits the understanding of their condensed matter physics and hinders ...

Optimal decision of a disaster relief network equilibrium model
Frequent natural disasters challenge relief network efficiency. This paper introduces a stochastic relief network with limited path capacity, develops an equilibrium model based on cumulative prospect theory, and formulates it as a stochastic variational
