Using an incomplete block design to allocate lines to environments improves sparse genome‐based prediction in plant breeding

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, 2022
Genomic selection (GS) is a predictive methodology that trains statistical machine‐learning models with a reference population that is used to perform genome‐enabled predictions of new lines.

Randomized and Deterministic Maximin-share Approximations for Fractionally Subadditive Valuations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We consider the problem of guaranteeing maximin-share (MMS) when allocating a set of indivisible items to a set of agents with fractionally subadditive (XOS) valuations. For XOS valuations, it has been previously shown that for some instances no allocation can guarantee a fraction better than $1/2$ of maximin-share to all the agents.

Spectrum-Energy Efficiency Tradeoff in Decode-and-Forward Two-Way Multi-Relay Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Owing to its high spectrum efficiency (SE), two-way relaying has aroused tremendous research interests. In this paper, the spectrum-energy efficiency (SE-EE) trade-off in decode-and-forward (DF) two-way multi-relay networks is studied by considering non ...

A Comparative Crossover Randomized Study of Miller and Macintosh Blade for Laryngoscopic View and Ease of Intubating Conditions in Adults

open access: yesArchives of Anesthesia and Critical Care, 2021
Background: Although several types of laryngoscope blades of different sizes and shapes are present, Miller (MIL) blade is the most preferable blade among paediatric population. However, there is dearth in the literature regarding the use of these blades

Genotype Performance Estimation in Targeted Production Environments by Using Sparse Genomic Prediction

open access: yesPlants
In plant breeding, Multi-Environment Trials (METs) evaluate candidate genotypes across various conditions, which is financially costly due to extensive field testing.

Addressing persistent challenges in digital image analysis of cancer tissue: resources developed from a hackathon

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Decentralized trade, random utility and the evolution of social welfare [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We study decentralized trade processes in general exchange economies and house allocation problems with and without money. The processes are subject to persistent random shocks stemming from agents' maximization of random utility.

Closing the gap in plan quality: Leveraging deep‐learning dose prediction for adaptive radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Balancing quality and efficiency has been a challenge for online adaptive therapy. Most systems start the online re‐optimization with the original planning goals. While some systems allow planners to modify the planning goals, achieving a high‐quality plan within time constraints remains a common barrier.

Joint Aperture and Power Allocation Strategy for a Radar Network Localization System Based on Low Probability of Interception Optimization

open access: yesSensors, 2023
In the process of using the Distributed Radar Network Localization System (DRNLS) further to improve the survivability of a carrier platform, the random characteristics of the system’s Aperture Resource Allocation (ARA) and Radar Cross Section (RCS) are ...
