Random allocation or allocation at random? Patients' perspectives of participation in a randomised controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 1998
To explore trial participants' understandings of randomisation. In this exploratory study, which used qualitative research methods, in-depth, semistructured interviews were carried out with 20 participants from the CLasP randomised controlled trial. Interviews were recorded on audio tape and fully transcribed. Data were analysed by comparing transcripts

Balanced Allocation on Graphs: A Random Walk Approach

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we propose algorithms for allocating $n$ sequential balls into $n$ bins that are interconnected as a $d$-regular $n$-vertex graph $G$, where $d\ge3$ can be any integer.Let $l$ be a given positive integer.

Spectrum-Energy Efficiency Tradeoff in Decode-and-Forward Two-Way Multi-Relay Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Owing to its high spectrum efficiency (SE), two-way relaying has aroused tremendous research interests. In this paper, the spectrum-energy efficiency (SE-EE) trade-off in decode-and-forward (DF) two-way multi-relay networks is studied by considering non ...

Multi-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning for Dynamic Power Allocation in Wireless Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2018
This work demonstrates the potential of deep reinforcement learning techniques for transmit power control in wireless networks. Existing techniques typically find near-optimal power allocations by solving a challenging optimization problem. Most of these

Variance Allocation and Shapley Value

open access: yes, 2017
Motivated by the problem of utility allocation in a portfolio under a Markowitz mean-variance choice paradigm, we propose an allocation criterion for the variance of the sum of $n$ possibly dependent random variables.

Chaotic Binary Firefly Spectrum Allocation Strategy Based on Logistic Mapping

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2022
Aiming at the problem that the searching effect of cognitive radio spectrum allocation optimization algorithm leads to the low total benefit of the system, we propose a binary firefly spectrum allocation strategy based on logistic mapping, because the ...

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

A game theoretic approach to distributed resource allocation for OFDMA-based relaying networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, algorithms on distributed resource (spectrum and power) sharing for relay stations are investigated for downlink transmissions in an OFDMA-based relay-aided cell. Both system capacity and user fairness are considered. By grouping the relay

Genotype Performance Estimation in Targeted Production Environments by Using Sparse Genomic Prediction

open access: yesPlants
In plant breeding, Multi-Environment Trials (METs) evaluate candidate genotypes across various conditions, which is financially costly due to extensive field testing.
