Precision nutrition in weight loss and neuroendocrine control of people with obesity: The study protocol of a factorial randomised controlled trial (GenON Programme)

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Precision nutrition, guided by genetic testing, has emerged as a promising approach for managing obesity. However, robust clinical trials testing its effectiveness in real‐world dietary interventions remain scarce. The GenOn Programme aims to evaluate whether tailoring nutritional care based on genetic risk for obesity enhances weight ...

Classification of Iranian Garlic (Allium sativum L.) Ecotypes Using RAPD Marker

open access: yesJournal of Medicinal Plants, 2009
Background: Garlic is a valuable medicinal plant with variability in desirable morphological and physiological characteristics. The analysis of genetic diversity plays an important role in breeding programs.

Dapansutrile preserves pancreatic beta‐cell function by regulating insulin vesicle membrane fusion and mitochondrial homeostasis

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims/Hypothesis Pancreatic beta‐cell dysfunction is pivotal in diabetes pathogenesis, with the NOD‐like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome playing a crucial role. Dapansutrile (DAPA), a novel NLRP3 inhibitor, demonstrates promise in diabetes management.

Periodontitis and Periodontal Conditions in Systemically Healthy Children and Adolescents

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To answer the PICoS question ‘in systemically healthy children and adolescents (Population), what are the main features of periodontitis, necrotising periodontal diseases (NPD) and other periodontal conditions (periodontal abscesses, endo‐periodontal lesions, traumatic occlusal forces, prosthesis‐ and tooth‐related factors ...

A fractal pattern of hierarchical genetic population structure in mixed stocks across fish segregated by dams revealed by genomic resources for curimba Prochilodus lineatus

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Genomic resources, new microsatellite markers and a novel observation of a fractal pattern in the genetic population structure are presented for curimba, Prochilodus lineatus, a freshwater migratory model species of South America. Our main goals were to investigate the presence of mixed fish stocks and the effects of damming‐induced ...

Stem microanatomical phenomic uncovers a potential role for ZmLSM2 in regulating maize stem bending strength

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Maize ZmLSM2 (U6 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein specific Sm‐like 2) controls maize stem strength by affecting vascular bundle structure. Using advanced computed tomography imaging and artificial intelligence identified key stem traits linked to lodging resistance and developed a predictive model.

Full‐length coding sequence analysis of the voltage‐gated sodium channel and acetylcholinesterase genes reveals target‐site mutations and acetylcholinesterase gene duplication in housefly (Musca domestica) populations in Japanese livestock barns

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
We simultaneously analysed insecticide resistance mutations in VGSC and AChE using NGS and hybridization probe capture in houseflies collected from livestock facilities for the first time. Resistance mutations in both VGSC and AChE were detected in most wild populations, suggesting widespread distribution of resistance genes.

Longevity in plants impacts phylogenetic and population dynamics

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary Phylogenies of long‐lived plants often exhibit short molecular branch lengths and high levels of gene‐tree conflict. However, the biological mechanisms underlying these patterns remain unclear. We examine this with simulations and through empirical examination of several large seed plant clades.

GENETIC DIVERSITY OF WILD AND FARMED KALIBAUS (Labeo calbasu, Hamilton, 1822) BY RAPD ANALYSIS OF THE GENOMIC DNA [PDF]

open access: yesCroatian Journal of Fisheries, 2009
Genetic diversity of two wild Kalibaus, Labeo calbasu populations and one hatchery stock was studied using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) method.
