Long‐term monitoring has revealed hybridisation attempts between the Critically Endangered Kuaka Whenua Hou (KWH, Pelecanoides whenuahouensis) and the abundant Kuaka (P. urinatrix). Here we use modelling based on population monitoring data in tandem with genomic data to investigate these attempts and the risk they pose to KWH recovery.

Abstract Background Myocyte enhancer factor 2 transcription factors regulate essential transcriptional programs in various cell types. The activity of myocyte enhancer factor 2 factors is modulated through interactions with cofactors, chromatin remodelers, and other regulatory proteins, which are dependent on cell context and physiological state.

Molecular characterization and phylogenetic relationships among and within species of Phalaenopsis (Epidendroideae: Orchidaceae) based on RAPD analysis [PDF]
Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis for 20 species of Phalaenopsis was conducted to determine their genetic distances and relationships. Among 20 different primers used for RAPD analysis, 10 primers showed polymorphism, and according to the ...

Optic nerve sheath meningiomas are typically NF2‐intact with few copy number alterations and are generally clinically indolent. Rare aggressive recurrences are associated with progressive accumulation of copy number variations, including CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion, 1q gain, and 14q loss.

A single amino acid change (L108I) combined with PrP overexpression drives spontaneous atypical prion formation in mice, enabling also efficient propagation of diverse prion strains. This model allows studying how spontaneous prion diseases arise and provides powerful tools for investigating strain emergence, transmission barriers, and mechanisms ...

Genetic Variability of Polymesoda Erosa Population in the Segara Anakan Cilacap [PDF]
Mud clams Polymesoda erosa in the Segara Anakan Cilacap are highly exploited by the local communities for daily consumption. This is presumed causing population decline and potentially causing loss of genetic diversity.

Integrated histological and transcriptional profiling of the glioblastoma periphery reveals clinically relevant tumor infiltration beyond MRI‐defined boundaries. MRI‐guided biopsies from contrast‐enhancing (CE), non‐contrast‐enhancing (nCE), edema (E), and radiologically normal (N) regions demonstrate that nCE areas frequently retain neoplastic and ...

Genetic analysis of east and west coast populations of Penaeus monodon from India based on random amplified polymorphic DNA [PDF]
The east and west coast populations of wild Penaeus monodon in India were genetically characterized by RAPD analysis using six highly polymorphic primers reported earlier.

Abstract Background and Purpose Drug hypersensitivity reactions (DHRs) associated with a specific human leukocyte antigen (HLA) allotype do not manifest uniformly in all individuals within an HLA model population. This scenario highlights the complexity of predicting drug hypersensitivity reaction risk without considering additional factors ...
