Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Random-Number Generator With Source Flaws

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2023
The measurement-device-independent quantum random number generator (MDI-QRNG) can resist all security loopholes on measurement devices, and it thus seems very promising in practical implementations.

On the Construction of Random Number Generators and Random Function Generators [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Blum, Micali (1982), Yao (1982), Goldreich, Goldwasser and Micali (1984), and Luby, Rackoff (1986) have constructed random number generators, random function generators and random permutation generators that are perfect if certain complexity assumptions hold.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Binarizations in random number generation

open access: yes2016 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT), 2016
Extracting procedures produce unbiased random bits from biased coin flips. Binarizations take inputs from an m-faced dice and produce bit sequences to be fed into a (binary) extracting procedure to obtain random bits, and this can be done in an entropy-preserving manner, without loss of information. Such a procedure has been proposed by Zhou and Bruck [

A Hardware Random Number Generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Some of the desirable properties a cryptographic random number generator should have are lack of bias, bit independence, unpredictiability and nonrepeatability. In this paper, we discuss how a hardware random number generator formed from simple components can provide these properties. The components include two state machines with different structures,

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Silicon single-electron random number generator based on random telegraph signals at room temperature

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
The need for hardware random number generators (HRNGs) that can be integrated in a silicon (Si) complementary-metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) platform has become increasingly important in the era of the Internet-of-Things (IoT).

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
