Freezing a fluid random surface [PDF]
We investigate a dynamically triangulated random surface action that consists of a Gaussian term plus the modulus of the intrinsic scalar curvature. We find that the flips are frozen out and the internal geometry is regularized as the coefficient of the ...

Random Surfaces with Boundary [PDF]
A surface with boundary is randomly generated by gluing polygons along some of their sides. We show that its genus and number of boundary components asymptotically follow a bivariate normal distribution.

Markov Random Field Surface Reconstruction [PDF]
A method for implicit surface reconstruction is proposed. The novelty in this paper is the adaption of Markov Random Field regularization of a distance field.

The diameter of random Belyĭ surfaces [PDF]
We determine the asymptotic growth rate of the diameter of the random hyperbolic surfaces constructed by Brooks and Makover. This model consists of a uniform gluing of $2n$ hyperbolic ideal triangles along their sides followed by a compactification to get a random hyperbolic surface of genus roughly $n/2$.

We study how the typical gradient and typical height of a random surface are modified by the addition of quenched disorder in the form of a random independent external field. The results provide quantitative estimates, sharp up to multiplicative constants, in the following cases.

The Evolution of Random Graphs on Surfaces [PDF]
For integers $g,m \geq 0$ and $n>0$, let $S_{g}(n,m)$ denote the graph taken uniformly at random from the set of all graphs on $\{1,2, \ldots, n\}$ with exactly $m=m(n)$ edges and with genus at most $g$. We use counting arguments to investigate the components, subgraphs, maximum degree, and largest face size of $S_{g}(n,m)$, finding that there is ...

Retention Capacity of Random Surfaces [PDF]
We introduce a "water retention" model for liquids captured on a random surface with open boundaries, and investigate it for both continuous and discrete surface heights 0, 1, ... n-1, on a square lattice with a square boundary. The model is found to have several intriguing features, including a non-monotonic dependence of the retention on the number ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Silver-Gold Bimetallic Nanoparticles for Random Lasing
We developed rough silver-gold bimetallic nanoparticles for random lasing. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized based on a citrate-reduction method and the gold (III) chloride trihydrate was added to produce bimetallic nanoparticles.

Vibration analysis of stylus instrument for random surface measurement [PDF]
This paper presents dynamic modeling and vibration analysis methodologies for investigating surface profile fidelity in stylus instruments, using a novel dynamic model that takes account of Hertzian contact stiffness between the stylus tip and surface ...
