This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

A New Estimator based on Auxiliary Information through Quantitative Randomized Response Techniques
An exponential-type estimator is developed for the population mean of the sensitive study variable based on various Randomized Response Techniques (RRT) using a non-sensitive auxiliary variable.

Ovarian Activation Surgical Techniques for Women with Premature Ovarian Insufficiency or Poor Ovarian Response: A Systematic Review [PDF]
Background: In vitro fertilization (IVF) with egg donation often stands as the sole treatment option for women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) or poor ovarian response (POR); for this reason, alternative techniques are being developed, among ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Two new nonrandomized response models for surveys on sensitive topics
If the direct questioning in surveys on sensitive variables leads to non-ignorable nonresponse and untruthful answers, a considerably biased estimator might be the consequence.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Innovative improvements in randomized response models
The estimation of the relative size of a certain subgroup within a population under study is one of the most important tasks in statistical surveys. When the question on the membership of the subgroup is sensitive, for example, membership in a group in ...
