Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Stress response in shoulder surgery under interscalene block, randomized controlled study comparing ultrasound guidance to nerve stimulation

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia, 2015
Background: Shoulder surgeries are known to cause moderate to severe pain. Many techniques have been used successfully to minimize that stress response including interscalene block.

Characterizing noncompliance in conservation: a multidimensional Randomized Response Technique for multinomial responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Rule violation is critical for biological conservation worldwide. Conventional questionnaires are not suitable to survey these violations and specialized questioning techniques that preserve respondents’ privacy, like the forced-response RRT, have been increasingly adopted by conservationists.

Methodological Problems in Self-Report Surveys: Randomized Response Techniques and Crosswise Model in the Study of Crime and Delinquency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The diploma thesis deals with randomized response techniques and their use in the self- report study of crime and delinquency. Even though the techniques were designed as a response to measurement problems that are encountered also in self-report studies

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

ABSTRACT Using Randomized Response Techniques for Privacy-Preserving Data Mining ∗

open access: yes, 2008
Privacy is an important issue in data mining and knowledge discovery. In this paper, we propose to use the randomized response techniques to conduct the data mining computation.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

New methods for efficient results using randomized response sampling

open access: yes, 2021
In this thesis, we will introduce new techniques that will always improve the efficiency of a randomized response model. The Odumade and Singh (2009) model can always be made more efficient than that of Warner (1965), Mangat and Singh (1990), and Kuk ...
