Range Flow Estimation

Computer Vision and Image Understanding, 2002
Summary: We discuss the computation of the instantaneous 3D displacement vector fields of deformable surfaces from sequences of range data. We give a novel version of the basic motion constraint equation that can be evaluated directly on the sensor grid.

Estimating the linear analytic range

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1999
Although many methods have been proposed to verify assay linearity, or to test for nonlinearity, there are few, if any, statistically sound methods to establish an assay's linear range. In this article, we propose a simple and statistically sound method for initially establishing an assay's linear range as a paradigm for standardization of ...

Range estimation by optical differentiation

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1998
We describe a novel formulation of the range recovery problem based on computation of the differential variation in image intensities with respect to changes in camera position. This method uses a single stationary camera and a pair of calibrated optical masks to measure this differential quantity directly.

Machine learning-aided LiDAR range estimation

Optics Letters, 2023
Automotive light detection and ranging (LiDAR) requires accurate and computationally efficient range estimation methods. At present, such efficiency is achieved at the cost of curtailing the dynamic range of a LiDAR receiver. In this Letter, we propose using decision tree ensemble machine learning models to overcome such a trade-off.

Passive range estimation and range rate detection

Proceedings of the 2000 IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop. SAM 2000 (Cat. No.00EX410), 2002
The problem of interest is a rapidly closing object (e.g. a torpedo) emitting broadband and narrowband acoustic signatures. A high negative range rate is indicative of a torpedo threat, and good range-bearing estimates provide good target localization.

Ladar range estimation technology

Infrared and Laser Engineering, 2016
Range estimation technology, which plays a decisive role on the properties of the laser radar system, is always the core technology of laser radar technology. A range estimation technology based on Artificial Neural Network which contains two layers of network was proposed.

Estimating the home range

Journal of Applied Probability, 1994
A proposal is given for estimating the home range of an animal based on sequential sightings. We assume the given sightings are independent, identically distributed random vectors X 1,· ··, Xn whose common distribution has compact support.

Range-Preserving Estimators

1994
An estimator is said to be range preserving if its values are confined to the range of what it is to estimate. The property of being range preserving is an essential property of an estimator, a sine qua non. Other properties, such as unbiasedness, may be desirable in some situations, but an unbiased estimator that is not range preserving should be ...
