Range estimation using backpropagation
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1992The method of backpropagation is used to estimate the range between two planar surfaces. This method is shown to be more tolerant in a noisy environment than another method that uses the spatial derivative of the measured wave field to estimate the range.

Range Estimation in UWB Realistic Environments
2006 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2006This paper investigates time of arrival (ToA) estimation methods for ultra-wide bandwidth (UWB) propagation signals. Different algorithms are implemented in order to detect the direct path in a dense multipath environment. In particular, suboptimal low-complex techniques based on peak detection are used to deal with partial overlap of signal paths.

Multivariate Estimation of Reference Ranges
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1978This paper describes a new method for estimating reference ranges of 21 frequently performed laboratory tests utilizing routine test results of selected hospital patients. Computer programs perform the selection of patient records and the statistical analysis.

Improving range query estimation on histograms
Proceedings 18th International Conference on Data Engineering, 2003Histograms are used to summarize the contents of relations for the estimation of query result sizes into a number of buckets. Several techniques (e.g., MaxDiff and V-Optimal) have been proposed in the past for determining bucket boundaries which provide better estimations.

Beam range estimation by measuring bremsstrahlung
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2012We describe a new method for estimating the beam range in heavy-ion radiation therapy by measuring the ion beam bremsstrahlung. We experimentally confirm that the secondary electron bremsstrahlung process provides the dominant bremsstrahlung contribution.

Differential Range Flow Estimation
1999We present a total least squares based differential method for the estimation of 3D range flow from a sequence of range images. We address the various manifestations of the aperture problem encountered with this type of data. It is described how they can be detected and how the appropriate normal flow can be computed.

Perhaps the most important application of the AF of a signal is the radar/sonar problem of jointly estimating the range and radial velocity (Doppler shift) of a slowly fluctuating point target. The AF is important in this context since (i) the maximum-likelihood estimator for range and Doppler shift uses the cross-AF of the transmitted and received ...

Range estimation in radar using maximum likelihood estimator
2017 20th International Conference of Computer and Information Technology (ICCIT), 2017RADAR technology is getting significance place in estimation and detection of short and long range targets. One of the important estimation parameter is radar delay time. In this paper, Maximum Likelihood Estimator (MLE) for range estimation using static radar is derived. Range of radar is estimated by estimating the round trip delay time.
