A Robust Covariate-Dependent Kink Threshold Regression Model for Panel Data

open access: yesAxioms
This paper introduces a rank-based panel kink threshold regression model with a covariate-dependent threshold, where the threshold is specified as a function of informative covariates.

Rank test of hypothesis of randomness against a group of regression alternatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
summary:The problem of testing hypothesis of randomness against a group of alternatives of regression in a parameter is investigated and a rank test for this problem is suggested.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Testing Matrix Rank, Optimally [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We show that for the problem of testing if a matrix $A \in F^{n \times n}$ has rank at most $d$, or requires changing an $ε$-fraction of entries to have rank at most $d$, there is a non-adaptive query algorithm making $\widetilde{O}(d^2/ε)$ queries. Our algorithm works for any field $F$. This improves upon the previous $O(d^2/ε^2)$ bound (SODA'03), and

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Long-run Validity of Export-Led Growth: An Empirical Reinvestigation from Linear and Nonlinear Cointegration Test [PDF]

open access: yes
This study is able to uncover long-run cointegration relationship for Singapore and South Korea, based on the Breitung (2001) rank test procedures. Breitung (2001) rank test can detect both linear and nonlinear cointegration relationships, added value to

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
