Genetic Analysis with RAPD Markers
1994For many years the principles of genetics have been applied to crop variety improvement with great success. Several crop species, notably corn, wheat, and tomato, have been used as model genetic systems because of their central importance to food production. Until recently, virtually all progress in both breeding and model genetic systems has relied on

RAPD markers for constructing intraspecific tomato genetic maps
Plant Cell Reports, 1993The existing molecular genetic maps of the tomato, Lycopersicon spp, are constructed based on isozyme and RFLP polymorphisms between tomato species. These maps are useful for certain applications but have few markers that exhibit sufficient polymorphisms for intraspecific analysis and manipulations within the cultivated tomato.

Fingerprinting of alfalfa meiotic mutants using RAPD markers
Euphytica, 1994Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), with single ten-base-long nucleotide primers, was used to amplify random regions of genomic DNA from eleven diploid meiotic mutants (2n egg, 2n pollen and jumbo pollen producers) of the Medicago sativa-coerulea-falcata complex.

Analysis of population genetic structure with RAPD markers
Molecular Ecology, 1994AbstractRecent advances in the application of the polymerase chain reaction make it possible to score individuals at a large number of loci. The RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) method is one such technique that has attracted widespread interest.

Identification of white truffle species using RAPD markers
Plant and Soil, 2000Morphologically very similar species of white truffle were analyzed by the random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique. Species-specific RAPD fragments were selected and pairs of primers were designed on their sequences. Sequence-characterized amplified regions were developed and applied to identify these species throughout their entire life ...

Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers
1993Williams [14] and Welsh and McClelland [13] demonstrated the utility of single short oligonucleotide primers of arbitrary sequence for the amplification of DNA segments distributed randomly throughout the genome. Welsh and McClelland showed that the pattern of amplified bands could be used for genome fingerprinting [13] and Williams et al. [ 14] showed

Estimation of inbreeding in cattle using RAPD markers
Journal of Dairy Research, 2003Inbreeding indicates the degree of homozygosity at a locus within a population. Normally inbreeding is estimated in terms of a coefficient calculated from the pedigree of an individual. If no history is available, however, there is no way to estimate the inbreeding coefficient.

RAPD Marker Variation among Smooth Bromegrass Cultivars
Crop Science, 2003The level of genetic diversity within and among smooth bromegrass (Bromus inermis Leyss.) cultivars and land races is unknown. The objective of this study was to investigate and characterize genetic diversity of smooth bromegrass cultivars and selected populations on the basis of random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers.

Genetic diversity inHemileia vastatrixbased on RAPD markers
Mycologia, 2005Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) was used to assess the genetic structure of Hemileia vastatrix populations. Forty-five rust isolates with different virulence spectra and from different hosts and geographical regions were analyzed. Out of 45 bands, generated with three RAPD primers, 35 (78%) were polymorphic and scored as molecular markers ...
