Rapid Automatized Naming Tasks: Screening Reading Difficulty

open access: yes, 2017
The aim of this study was to analyze the rapid automatized naming (RAN)’s accuracy for identifying studentsat risk/not at risk for reading difficulty. Two hundred and thirteen children performed the RAN tasks when they were in the last year of Kindergarten and 174 among them, accomplished the reading task when they were in the first grade of Elementary

Ultrasound‐Triggered Gelation for Restoring Biomechanical Properties of Degenerated Functional Spinal Units

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an innovative approach to treating intervertebral disc degeneration using ultrasound‐triggered in situ hydrogel formation. Proof‐of‐concept experiments using optimized biomaterial and ultrasound parameters demonstrate partial restoration of biomechanical function and successful integration into degenerated disc tissue, offering a ...

Geometrically Tunable Scaffold‐Free Muscle Bioconstructs for Treating Volumetric Muscle Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Volumetric muscle loss is associated with traumatic muscle resulting in permanent functional impairment. Mold‐based, scaffold‐free, high‐density muscle tissue bioconstructs are developed in customizable geometric shapes and sizes. The transplanted rectangular solid‐shaped muscle bioconstructs improved muscle force recovery and tissue regeneration in ...

Die neuen Länder und ihre Verfassungen [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The relationship between Rapid Automatized Naming (RAN) tasks and reading proficiency was first studied for English during the 70s, one finding being that children with dyslexia were slow and inconsistent in the RAN tasks.

Ascorbic Acid Modulates Collagen Properties in Glucocorticoid‐Induced Osteoporotic Bone: Insights into Chemical, Mechanical, and Biological Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Osteoporosis from long‐term glucocorticoid (GIOP) use elevates susceptibility to fracture. This study shows GCs impair ascorbic acid (AA) metabolism in osteoblasts, collagen synthesis and extracellular matrix integrity. AA enhanced collagen biochemical and mechanical properties and restored osteoblast and endothelial function. These findings underscore

A Quantitative Printability Framework for Programmable Assembly of Pre‐Vascular Patterns via Laser‐Induced Forward Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Laser‐Induced Forward Transfer (LIFT) is presented as a powerful micropatterning tool. An objective printability framework is developed to assess optimal printing parameter combinations. The technology is further explored for its ability to deterministically deposit microdroplets at predefined locations following CAD designs, enabling the patterning of

Visuospatial, oculomotor, and executive reading skills evolve in elementary school, and errors are significant: a topological RAN study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
We investigate the development of visuospatial and oculomotor reading skills in a cohort of elementary school children. Employing a longitudinal methodology, the study applies the Topological serial digit Rapid Automated Naming (Top-RAN) battery, which ...

Hybrid Nanofibers for Multimodal Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fabrication of wound healing scaffolds based on biocompatible nanofibers. Nanofibers offering high surface area, flexibility, and biocompatibility significantly improved the healing outcome in vivo. Histological, immunological, and anti‐inflammatory markers are noticeably better in treated wounds.
