Rapid diagnostic tests in neonatal septicemia
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 1988Fifty clinically suspected cases of septicemia and 10 healthy neonates (controls) were studied. 58% of the cases were males and 52% were less than a week old. Blood culture was positive in 48% of cases among which Gramnegative bacilli predominated (71% of culture positive cases). C-reactive protein (CRP) test, total leukocyte count, ratio of band cells

Rapid diagnostic tests for influenza
Current Opinion in Pediatrics, 2003In recent years, seven rapid tests for influenza have become commercially available. These tests offer the promise of making rapid influenza diagnosis much more widely available than in the past, when rapid diagnosis could be made only by fluorescent antibody staining, a demanding technique available only in advanced laboratories.

Rapid Test for Influenza in Diagnostics
2012In Poland no vaccines against influenza type A/H1N1 were available in the epidemic season 2009/2010. In our Department within 45 days (November-December 2009) 17 influenza suspected children (24%) were positive for influenza type A (QiuckVue Influenza A + B rapid tests). Of these 17 children, seven were hospitalized at the pediatric department.

Rapid Diagnostic Testing for Mycobacterial Infections
Future Microbiology, 2007Tests based on nucleic acid amplification can rapidly detect mycobacteria in clinical samples. These appear to be promising and may change how mycobacterial diseases are diagnosed in the future. Utilization of nucleic acid hybridization and DNA sequencing has enabled the identification of mycobacteria to the species level and detection of mutations ...

An Update on Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests
Current Infectious Disease Reports, 2018Modern advances in malaria rapid diagnostic test (RDT) technology have increased demand for low-cost, easy-to-use assays in areas endemic for malaria. Substantial developments in diagnostic sensitivity and specificity, improvements in non-falciparum RDTs, and novel biotechnological innovations are gradually aligning the performance of RDTs with ...

Rapid and Biosecure Diagnostic Test for Tuberculosis
Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2012Early and rapid detection of the causative organism is necessary in tuberculosis. We present here an integrated and dedicated molecular biology system for tuberculosis diagnosis. One hundred and eighty-nine (189) biologic specimens from patients strongly suspected by clinical parameters of tuberculosis were studied by Ziehl-Neelsen staining ...
