Modelling and Simulations of Moving Droplet in a Rarefied Gas
We study a two phase flow with interactions of liquid and rarefied gas inside the gas phase. The gas phase is modeled by the BGK model of the Boltzmann equation. The liquid phase is modeled by the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. In this paper we have excluded the heat transfer between two phases. The interface boundary conditions for the liquid

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Data-driven nonlinear constitutive relations for rarefied flow computations
To overcome the defects of traditional rarefied numerical methods such as the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method and unified Boltzmann equation schemes and extend the covering range of macroscopic equations in high Knudsen number flows, data ...

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Highly rarefied gas flows in rough channels of finite length
Highly rarefied gas flows through a rough channel of finite length with small bumps appended to its surfaces are investigated, by varying the accommodation coefficient $$\alpha$$ α in Maxwell’s diffuse-specular boundary condition, the characteristic size

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

Evaporation Boundary Conditions for the Linear R13 Equations Based on the Onsager Theory
Due to the failure of the continuum hypothesis for higher Knudsen numbers, rarefied gases and microflows of gases are particularly difficult to model.
