Racist ideologies have been present throughout history. The Swedish curriculum advocates that teachers should use knowledge and active efforts to prevent racism. However, the textbooks used in upper secondary school may sometimes fail to explain racism as constructed, instead describing it as a biological phenomenon or without nuance.
