Conned by the enemy: the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae lures and kills Drosophila suzukii

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 5, Page 4595-4606, May 2026.
Highly pathogenic isolates of Metarhizium anisopliae attracted Drosophila suzukii. Identifying the responsible compounds for this attraction could help the development of these isolates for pest monitoring and overall pest management. Abstract BACKGROUND Drosophila suzukii, commonly known as spotted wing drosophila (SWD), is a highly invasive and ...

Interpretable CRAM‑Enhanced Lightweight Dual‑Branch CNN for Real‑Time Breast Cancer Histopathology in Internet‑of‑Medical‑Things Environments

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
This study presents an interpretable, lightweight hybrid deep learning model for real‐time analysis of breast cancer histopathology in IoMT‐enabled diagnostic systems. By integrating MobileNetV2 and EfficientNet‐B0 with a novel contextual recurrent attention module (CRAM), the framework achieves near‐perfect accuracy while providing transparent Grad ...

Hierarchical Ethyl Cellulose Films With Exceptional UV Stability Enabling Highly Efficient Daytime Radiative Cooling

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Ethyl cellulose (EC) radiative cooling films prepared using a scalable electrospinning method achieved a high solar reflectance of 97.4% and a mid‐infrared emissivity of 89.4%, resulting in a theoretical radiative cooling power of up to 145 W/m2 and a temperature reduction of 10.4°C compared to the ambient temperature.

A regression‐based waveform interpretation model for accurate soil moisture estimation under incomplete time domain reflectometry probe insertions

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 25, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Time domain reflectometry (TDR) is widely used and provides accurate estimates of soil moisture when sensor rods are fully inserted into the soil. However, automation of sensor insertions, especially in field conditions, is hindered by inaccuracies caused by possible incomplete sensor rod insertion, which distorts waveforms and leads to ...
