Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Equivalence of rate of approximation and smoothness

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 1990
The result of Jackson and Bernstein \[ \omega^ r(f,t)=O(t^{\alpha})\Leftrightarrow E_ n(f)=O(n^{-\alpha}) \] have led to the question whether \(\omega^ r(f,\frac{1}{n})\sim E_ n(f)?\) The answer is affirmative, if the function \(\psi_ r(t):=\omega^ r(f,t)\) satisfies \[ \delta^ r\int^{c}\frac{\psi_ r(t)}{t^{r+1}}dt\sim \psi_ r(\delta). \] The analogous

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Simultaneous approximation for the Phillips operators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2006
We study the simultaneous approximation properties of the well-known Phillips operators. We establish the rate of convergence of the Phillips operators in simultaneous approximation by means of the decomposition technique for functions of bounded ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Minimax Rates of Estimating Approximate Differential Privacy

open access: yes, 2019
Differential privacy has become a widely accepted notion of privacy, leading to the introduction and deployment of numerous privatization mechanisms. However, ensuring the privacy guarantee is an error-prone process, both in designing mechanisms and in implementing those mechanisms. Both types of errors will be greatly reduced, if we have a data-driven

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Optimal Approximation of Skorohod Integrals – Examples with Substandard Rates

open access: yesCommunications on Stochastic Analysis, 2017
We consider optimal approximation with respect to the mean square error of It integrals and Skorohod integrals given an equidistant discretization of the Brownian motion. We obtain for suitable integrands optimal rates smaller than the standard $n^{-1}$, where $n$ denotes the number of evaluations of the Brownian motion. For the It integral this is

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.
