Posterior Mean Super-Resolution with a Compound Gaussian Markov Random Field Prior

open access: yes, 2012
This manuscript proposes a posterior mean (PM) super-resolution (SR) method with a compound Gaussian Markov random field (MRF) prior. SR is a technique to estimate a spatially high-resolution image from observed multiple low-resolution images. A compound

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Generalized ratio-product-type estimator for variance using auxiliary information in simple random sampling

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2018
This paper suggests a new generalized ratio-product-type estimator for population variance of study variable utilizing information obtained from two auxiliary variables.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Neutrosophic Exponential Ratio-Type Estimator for Finite Population Mean in Stratified Sampling [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

"Empirical Likelihood-Based Inference in Conditional Moment Restriction Models" [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper proposes an asymptotically efficient method for estimating models with conditional moment restrictions. Our estimator generalizes the maximum empirical likelihood estimator (MELE) of Qin and Lawless (1994).

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Almost unbiased ratio and product-type estimators in systematic sampling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
In this paper we have suggested almost unbiased ratio-type and product-type estimators for estimating the population mean Y of the study variate y using information on an auxiliary variate x in systematic sampling.

Swing Ratio Estimation

open access: yes, 2015
Swing is a typical long-short rhythmical pattern that is mostly present in jazz music. In this article, we propose an algorithm to automatically estimate how much a track, a frame of a track, is swinging. We denote this by swing ratio. The algorithm we propose is based on the analysis of the auto-correlation of the onset energy function of the audio ...
