A revealed preference analysis of the rational addiction model. [PDF]
We provide a revealed preference analysis of the rational addiction model. The revealed preference approach avoids the need to impose an, a priori unverifiable, functional form on the underlying utility function.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

An auxiliary field approach for computing optical resonances in dispersive media
We report on an auxiliary field approach for solving nonlinear eigenvalue problems occurring in nano-optical systems with material dispersion. The material dispersion can be described by a rational function for the frequency-dependent permittivity, e.g.,

A Mathematical Analysis of a Model Involving an Integrable Equation for Wave Packet Envelope
This study investigates new optical solutions to a model with an integrable equation for wave packet envelopes. For this purpose, we have employed two reliable techniques involving the modified extended tanh function and the exponential rational function

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

The system identification and control of Hammerstein system using non-uniform rational B-spline neural network and particle swarm optimization [PDF]
In this paper a new system identification algorithm is introduced for Hammerstein systems based on observational input/output data. The nonlinear static function in the Hammerstein system is modelled using a non-uniform rational B-spline (NURB) neural ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.
