Contribution of the sympathetic nervous system to the pathogenesis of salt-sensitive hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Dysregulation of the sodium-chloride cotransporter (NCC) is believed to significantly impact blood pressure. Recent studies have implicated overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system as a mechanism driving renal NCC dysregulation to evoke the ...

Choroidal coloboma in sprague-dawley rats.

open access: yesJournal of Toxicologic Pathology, 1994
This communication describes 2 cases of choroidal coloboma in untreated Sprague-Dawley rats. On ophthalmoscopical examination, a 4 weeks old female and 11 weeks old male rats had a focal pale area which in both cases were located inferonasal to the optic disc. These pale foci were oval and well-delineated from the surrounding fundus.

Histopathologic Changes in Liver and Kidney Tissues from Male Sprague Dawley Rats Treated with Rhaphidophora Decursiva (Roxb.) Schott Extract

open access: yes, 2014
Rhaphidophora decursiva (Roxb.) Schott is commonly used to treat colon cancer among Chinese community in Malaysia. This study aims to evaluate histopathologic changes in liver and kidney tissues after treated with R.

Mesoporous Fe3O4 Nanoparticles Loaded with IR‐820 for Antibacterial Activity via Magnetic Hyperthermia Combined with Photodynamic Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study addresses bacterial biofilm resistance by developing mesoporous Fe3O4 nanoparticles loaded with photosensitizer IR‐820, enabling combined antimicrobial photodynamic therapyand magnetic hyperthermia therapy. The system achieves magnetic targeting, heat‐triggered drug release under alternating magnetic fields, and near‐infrared‐induced ROS ...

Multifunctional Neural Probes Enable Bidirectional Electrical, Optical, and Chemical Recording and Stimulation In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Convergence drawing is used to create flexible, microscale, multifunctional fiber‐based neural probes. Optimized materials selection enables individual devices to perform neural recording, electrical stimulation, optogenetics, fiber photometry, fluid delivery, and voltammetric neurotransmitter detection in rodents.

A Highly Adaptable Hydrogen Bond Re‐Orientation (HyBRO) Strategy for Multiscale Vasculature Fabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel hydrogen bond re‐orientation (HyBRO) strategy enables three‐dimensional (3D) printing of vascular microchannel networks with high accuracy. By switching sacrificial material interactions with nonsolvents, HyBRO prevents swelling and deformation, enabling accurate hierarchical channels spanning a tenfold size range.

Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging: a study of malnourished rats [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Malnutrition is a main public health problem in developing countries. Incidence is increasing and the mortality rate is still high. Malnutrition can leads mayor problems that can be irreversible if it is present before brain development is completed. We used BOLD (blood oxygen level-dependent effect) Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging to investigate

Biopersistence of silver nanoparticles in tissues from Sprague–Dawley rats

open access: yesParticle and Fibre Toxicology, 2013
Silver nanoparticles are known to be distributed in many tissues after oral or inhalation exposure. Thus, understanding the tissue clearance of such distributed nanoparticles is very important to understand the behavior of silver nanoparticles in vivo ...
