A Wearable, Dual Closed‐loop Insulin Delivery System for Precision Diabetes Management

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A wearable dual closed‐loop drug delivery system for diabetes management is presented, featuring an adaptive, on‐body trained edge AI algorithm for precise insulin delivery, which enhances therapeutic accuracy from 92.10% to 98.82%. Abstract Effective blood glucose management is an increasing demand worldwide.

Female rat hippocampal cell density after conditioned place preference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The hippocampus is important for learning tasks, such as conditioned place preference (CPP), which is widely used as a model for studying the reinforcing effects of drugs with dependence liability.

Potent Liver‐Tropic mRNA Lipid Nanoparticles: ApoE‐Mediated Delivery Through a Low‐Density Lipoprotein Receptor Independent Uptake Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Helper and ionizable lipids play a crucial role in determining ApoE binding and subsequent liver tropism and LDLR‐mediated uptake. Ionizable lipids primarily govern the LDLR‐independent uptake pathway. This complementary interplay between lipid components ultimately governs LNP delivery performance and therapeutic efficacy in the liver.

Piezoelectric Stimulation of Neural Cells: Exploring the Synergistic Potential of Hybrid Scaffolds for Enhanced Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Hybrid piezoelectric scaffolds offer a promising route for Central Nervous System regeneration by combining structural and electrical cues to support neural stem cell growth. This review highlights their potential to overcome current challenges in neural tissue engineering by exploring porous hybrid materials, their biological interactions, and ...

In-vivo experimental model for silicosis : fisher 344, sprague dawley and wistar rat strains [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The selection of an experimental model for silicosis requires a thorough understanding of a number of different pulmonary parameters specific to the animal that is to be used (e.g., clearance time, penetration curves, anatomical differences...), and of ...

Ultra‐Thin Soft Pneumatic Actuation for Minimally Invasive Neural Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parylene C is a common polymer in bioelectronics, favored for its biological and chemical inertness. However, this makes bonding layers of Parylene C together very challenging. Here it is a laser to selectively weld layers of Parylene C to create high‐pressure fluidic actuation devices.

Correlative Super‐Resolution Imaging of Cellular Nanopores Facilitated by Transparent Polymer Waveguide Chips

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
Correlative super‐resolution optical imaging of the ultrastructure of rat liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) across a large field of view (FOV) with 3D structured illumination microscopy (3D‐SIM) and single‐molecule localization microscopy (SMLM), facilitated by a transparent polymer photonic waveguide chip, is presented.

Developmental toxic effects of ethylbenzene or toluene alone and in combination with butyl acetate in rats after inhalation exposure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
First, the developmental toxic potential of n-butyl acetate (BA) was examined in Sprague-Dawley rats following whole body inhalation exposure, 6 h day-1, from day 6 to 20 of gestation, at concentrations of 0, 500, 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm.

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

Effects of High-Intensity Swimming Interval Training on Area, Perimeter, Circularity Index and Phenotype of Cardiac Mitochondrial Ultrastructure in Sprague Dawley Rats

open access: yesLife
Physical inactivity impairs health by increasing morbidity. In childhood, modifiable risk factors associated with cardiovascular pathologies and related to mitochondrial function and structure are initiated by physical inactivity.
