A revaluation of the haemoglobin electrophoretogram of the wistar rat
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1971Abstract 1. 1. Haemoglobins of Wistar rats have been examined by starch and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis 2. 2. Two haemoglobins are produced during yolk sac erythropoiesis, and two additional haemoglobins appear during liver erythropoiesis. 3. 3. All four haemoglobins persist in the adult. 4. 4.

Resistance to mineralocorticoids in Wistar-Furth rats
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1997Wistar-Furth rats (WF) do not develop hypertension when treated with salt and mineralocorticoids and therefore may be useful for investigating the mechanisms of mineralocorticoid action and hypertension. In the present studies, we determined vascular and renal responses of WF to mineralocorticoids. Control Wistar rats (W) developed deoxycorticosterone

Anticholinesterasic Activity of Endosulfan in Wistar Rats
Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 2011The in vivo and in vitro effects of the pesticide endosulfan on the cholinesterase (ChE) activity were investigated in rats. ChE activity decreased in dams and in male pups within 65 days corresponding to 35% and 32% of inhibition respectively in the higher endosulfan dose (1.5 mg/kg).

Sleeve Gastrectomy Model in Wistar Rats
Obesity Surgery, 2007Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) has been used for the surgical treatment of morbid obesity, as a first step or as a definitive treatment. The objective of this pilot study was to establish an animal model for SG in Wistar rats.12 male Wistar rats were operated on.

Teratogenicity of ionic cadmium in the Wistar rat
Archives of Toxicology, 1987In rats of the present (re-derived) Wistar-Porton strain that are dosed either intravenously (i.v.), or intraperitoneally (i.p.) with Cd (1.25 mg/kg body weight) on day 12 of gestation (gd 12), foetal uptake of Cd is at least 6-fold greater than that reported in an earlier study (Webb and Samarawickrama 1981).

Lipids, 1976
AbstractThe bile acid pool was found to be ca. 50 μmoles/100 g body wt in male and female rats maintained on standard laboratory chow and ca. 30 μmoles/100 g body wt in those maintained on a standard semisynthetic diet. The distribution of bile acids within the pool was similar in plasma, liver, and intestinal tract, except for a higher concentration ...

Hyponeophagia in Wistar Kyoto (WKY) Rats
Physiology & Behavior, 1994Unconditioned suppression of feeding due to novelty (hyponeophagia) was studied in Wistar Kyoto (WKY), Lewis, Fischer 344, and Wistar rats. Fasted rats were given access to food either in home cages (controls) or to a single pellet fixed to the middle of a novel open field environment (experimental).

Teratogenic Effect of Semicarbazide in Wistar Rats
Neonatology, 1986Five groups of pregnant Wistar rats were injected intraperitoneally with a single dose of semicarbazide (SC) on day 5, 7, 10, 13, or 15 of gestation. The lots in each group received either 50, 75, 100 or 150 mg/kg SC. A sixth group received 17 mg/kg of the drug during the entire course of pregnancy.
