The Vocal Repertoire of Gray‐Cheeked Mangabeys (Lophocebus albigena) in the Bugoma Forest Reserve, Uganda

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 88, Issue 9, September 2026.
We describe four acoustically and contextually distinct call types in the vocal repertoire of a previously unstudied population of gray‐cheeked mangabeys. These findings provide novel data on an understudied species, expanding our understanding of primate communicative diversity and paving the way for future comparative studies.

Turnip Mosaic Virus‐Based gRNA Delivery System for Plant Genome Editing

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Plant virus‐based gRNA delivery systems offer a rapid alternative to stable transformation for CRISPR‐mediated genome editing, but potyvirus‐based platforms in Cas9‐expressing plants are still underexplored. Here, we developed a turnip mosaic virus (TuMV)‐based system for gRNA delivery in Cas9‐expressing Nicotiana benthamiana and tested ...

Managing perennial biomass crop margins for biodiversity: Insights from fine‐resolution soil and plant niche models

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 9, September 2026.
Together, these results highlight the need for margin‐specific management guidance for perennial biomass crops and demonstrate how niche‐based modelling can inform the design of effective agri‐environment options. Abstract The challenge of energy production against a target of net‐zero emissions has led to the growth of policies promoting the ...

Novel class identification: A human‐in‐the‐loop approach for efficient species recognition in bioacoustic data

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 9, Page 2683-2700, September 2026.
Abstract Passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) is widely used to collect large‐scale wildlife data encompassing many species, but efficiently identifying all species—particularly rare and potentially endangered ones—without exhaustive manual examination of the entire dataset remains a major challenge.
