Rayleigh-Ritz variational method with suitable asymptotic behaviour [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2014
AbstractThis paper considers the Rayleigh-Ritz variational calculations with non-orthogonal basis sets that exhibit the correct asymptotic behaviour. This approach is illustrated by constructing suitable basis sets for one-dimensional models such as the two double-well oscillators recently considered by other authors.

Damage Detection of Bridge by Rayleigh-Ritz Method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation in Civil Engineering, 2020
As a result of environmental and accidental actions, damage occurs in structures. The early detection of any defect can be achieved by regular inspection and condition assessment.

Rayleigh–Ritz variation method and connected‐moments polynomial approach [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Quantum Chemistry, 2008
AbstractWe show that the connected‐moments polynomial approach proposed recently is equivalent to the well known Rayleigh–Ritz variation method in the Krylov space. We compare the latter with one of the original connected‐moments methods by means of a numerical test on an anharmonic oscillator. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Approximation of eigenvalues of some unbounded self-adjoint discrete Jacobi matrices by eigenvalues of finite submatrices [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2007
We investigate the problem of approximation of eigenvalues of some self-adjoint operator in the Hilbert space \(l^2(\mathbb{N})\) by eigenvalues of suitably chosen principal finite submatrices of an infinite Jacobi matrix that defines the operator ...

Effect of Elastically Restrained Edges on Free Transverse Vibration of Functionally Graded Porous Rectangular Plate [PDF]

open access: yesMechanics of Advanced Composite Structures, 2022
In this paper, the author studied free transverse vibration of a thin isotropic simply-supported functionally graded (FG) rectangular plate with porosity effect based on classical plate theory. The plate is considered to be elastically restrained against

Buckling Analysis of Laminated Stiffened Plates with Material Anisotropy Using the Rayleigh–Ritz Approach

open access: yesComputation, 2023
An energy-based solution for calculating the buckling loads of partially anisotropic stiffened plates is presented, such as antisymmetric cross-ply and angle-ply laminations.

About natural oscillations thin elastic wavy non-circular shell [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2021
The open profile thin elastic wavy shell natural oscillations problem is considered. The proposed method for determining the numerical values of the lowest frequencies and the corresponding forms of natural vibrations of shells with a complicated shape ...

Analysis of Simply Supported Laminated Composite Plate by Semi Analytical and Finite Element Method for Different Orientation Angles

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering, 2023
Deflection of simply supported laminated composite plate under transverse load is found out by semi-analytical method (Classical Lamination Theory) and the results are compared with Finite element method using FEA software ANSYS.

Buckling Analysis of Functionally Graded Tapered Microbeams via Rayleigh–Ritz Method

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
In the present study, the buckling problem of nonhomogeneous microbeams with a variable cross-section is analyzed. The microcolumn considered in this study is made of functionally graded materials in the longitudinal direction and the cross-section of ...

Generalized stress field in granular soils heap with Rayleigh–Ritz method

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2017
The stress field in granular soils heap (including piled coal) will have a non-negligible impact on the settlement of the underlying soils. It is usually obtained by measurements and numerical simulations.
