Some notes on Rayleigh distribution

open access: yes, 1975
In  this paper, we emphasize some aspects concerning the Rayleigh distribution. After a brief presentation of the literature devoted to this variable, we give a characterization of the Rayleigh distribution by using a Gercbach idea (1967). Then, some properties are put into ligth and in the latter part of the work sequential tests are constructed in ...

The Filament Extension Atomization Process for Powder Production of Elastic Fluids

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Filament extension atomization is a promising technique for spraying a wide range of materials, enabling narrow droplet size distributions. This study examines the behavior of various fluids and suspensions to define application limits and identify optimal operating conditions.

Integral Experiments and Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Lab‐Scale Liquid Distributors

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Four lab‐scale liquid distributors were evaluated based on the homogeneity of the resulting liquid distribution. The best‐performing design reduced maldistribution and wall flow compared to a single‐point liquid distribution and remained stable under varying operating conditions, including different gas and liquid loads.

Stability of Viscous Three‐Dimensional Stratified Couette Flow via Dispersion and Mixing

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article explores the stability of stratified Couette flow in the viscous 3d$3d$ Boussinesq equations. In this system, mixing effects arise from the shearing background, and gravity acts as a restoring force leading to dispersive internal gravity waves.

The Virial Expansion of the Hydrogen Equation of State in Comparison to PIMC Simulations: The Quasiparticle Concept, IPD, and Ionization Degree

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The properties of plasmas in the low‐density limit are described by virial expansions. Analytical expressions are known for the lowest virial coefficients from Green's function approaches. Recently, accurate path‐integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) simulations were performed for the hydrogen plasma at low densities by Filinov and Bonitz (Phys. Rev.

Evidence of Free‐Bound Transitions in Warm Dense Matter and Their Impact on Equation‐of‐State Measurements

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Warm dense matter (WDM) is now routinely created and probed in laboratories around the world, providing unprecedented insights into conditions achieved in stellar atmospheres, planetary interiors, and inertial confinement fusion experiments.

Few‐Photon Fluorescence From Ultracold Bosons in an Optical Cavity

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Within a cavity quantum electrodynamics framework, we analyse the fluorescent spectrum of ultracold bosons in resonant and second‐harmonic generation (SHG) regimes. Two settings are considered: (i) (few) bosons in an optical lattice and (ii) a trapped two‐component dilute Bose–Einstein condensate (2BEC) within the Bogoliubov scheme.
