Nanomechanical characterization of RB-SiC ceramics based on nanoindentation and modelling of the ground surface roughness

Ceramics International, 2020
Abstract Reaction bonded silicon carbide (RB-SiC) ceramics are the primary structure and mold materials for the optical industry and mostly are machined by means of ultra-precision grinding to achieve a satisfactory surface quality. However, it is not easy to attain the theoretical prediction of surface quality, particularly surface roughness ...

Measurement of elemental composition of carbon and composite ceramic materials using PIXE and RBS methods

Inorganic Materials: Applied Research, 2012
With the help of the PIXE and RBS methods, the elemental composition of a ceramic coating on Zr alloy, surface layers of heat-treated TiNi alloy, and Ar+ implanted pyrolytic graphite is investigated. It is shown that the PIXE and RBS methods are complementary and their combined use can provide additional information on the elemental composition of the ...

Surface strengthening of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic by ion-exchange using Rb, Cs nitrates

Ceramics International, 2018
Abstract In order to further improve the flexural strength of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic, surface strengthening by ion exchange using Rb, Cs nitrates has been studied for the first time. The influences of ion exchange using rubidium and cesium salts on the flexural strength and corrosion resistance have been investigated.

Effect of Different Dielectric Fluids on Micro EDM of Low Conductivity Ceramic Material RB-SiC

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The machining characteristics of reaction bonded silicon carbide (RB-SiC) in micro electrical discharge machining process were studied by using EDM oil, deionized water, and graphite fiber mixed EDM oil as the dielectric fluids. The process performances were measured in terms of material removal rate, surface roughness and surface topography.

Successive phase transitions in Rb2TeO4ceramics

Ferroelectrics, 1999
Abstract Polycrystalline samples of Rb2TeO4 have been prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction technique at a low temperature (600°C). Preliminary room temperature X-ray studies suggest the formation of the single phase compound of Rb2TeO4 with cell parameters a = 10.582(1) A, b = 8.448(1) A and c = 8.499(1) A in the orthorhombic crystal system.

RBS Simulation of Integrated Piezo-Ceramic Actuation for Textile Reinforced Composite Compliant Mechanisms

2011
Structure-integrated drives use compliant elements to transmit motion just by structural deformations, and also, integrate piezo-ceramic actuators into the composite’s laminate lay-up to command and control the motion. The transmission of motion sequences can be obtained with reduced number of parts and low structural weight. However, the actual motion
