Quantitative mass spectrometry evaluation of human retinol binding protein 4 and related variants. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Retinol Binding Protein 4 (RBP4) is an exciting new biomarker for the determination of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. It is known that circulating RBP4 resides in multiple variants which may provide enhanced clinical utility, but conventional ...

Optic nerve sheath meningioma exhibits neural niche‐associated transcriptomic features and rare copy number variation‐linked evolution

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Optic nerve sheath meningiomas are typically NF2‐intact with few copy number alterations and are generally clinically indolent. Rare aggressive recurrences are associated with progressive accumulation of copy number variations, including CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion, 1q gain, and 14q loss.

PI(4,5)P2 alleviates colitis by inhibiting intestinal epithelial cell pyroptosis through NNMT-mediated RBP4 m6A modification

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
Lipid metabolism disorder is a critical feature of Crohn’s disease (CD). Phosphatidylinositol (PI) and its derivative, phosphatidylinositol bisphosphate (PIP2), are associated with CD. The mechanisms underlying such association remain unknown.

Role of retinol binding protein 4, visfatin, omentin-1 and vaspin in gout patients with various obesity phenotypes

open access: yesРоссийский кардиологический журнал
Aim. To study the serum level of retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4), visfatin, omentin-1 and vaspin in gout patients with different obesity phenotypes, as well as to assess the dynamics of studied parameters against the background of weight loss using an ...

Pioglitazone Lowers Serum Retinol Binding Protein 4 by Suppressing its Expression in Adipose Tissue of Obese Rats

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2015
Background/Aims: Pioglitazone, a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ activator, is clinically used to treat insulin resistance. However, the underlying mechanism of pioglitazone's action remains unclear.

Retinoic Acid Signalling Regulates Zebrafish Tooth Germ Repair Following Injury

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Retinoic acid signalling may regulate the repair processes in a tooth germ injury model using Tg(scpp5:Dendra2‐NTR) zebrafish and the nitroreductase (NTR)/metronidazole (MTZ) system. ABSTRACT Although the role of retinoic acid (RA) signalling in odontogenesis is well established, its involvement in the repair of injured tooth germs remains unclear.

Novel adipokine associated with OA: retinol binding protein 4 (RBP4) is produced by cartilage and is correlated with MMPs in osteoarthritis patients

open access: yesInflammation Research, 2020
Retinol binding protein 4 (RBP4) is a member of the lipocalin family and a vitamin A carrier in the blood. More recently, RBP4 has been described as an adipokine that is involved in insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome (MetS).

A Genetic Polymorphism in RBP4 Is Associated with Coronary Artery Disease [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2014
Insulin resistance and obesity is influenced by the retinol binding protein 4 (RBP4) adipokine. This study aims to determine if genetic polymorphisms in RBP4 are associated with the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) in Chinese patients. RBP4 polymorphisms were analyzed by high resolution melting (HRM) analysis in a case-control study of 392 ...

Regulation by FSH of the dynamic expression of retinol-binding protein 4 in the mouse ovary

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2018
Background Ovarian retinoid homeostasis plays an important role in the physiological function of the ovary. Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) acts as the mediator for the systemic and intercellular transport of retinol and is heavily involved in cellular ...
