Axitinib induces DNA damage response leading to senescence, mitotic catastrophe, and increased NK cell recognition in human renal carcinoma cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) including axitinib have been introduced in the treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) because of their anti-angiogenic properties.

Open Surgery for Localized RCC [PDF]

open access: yesTSW Urology, 2007
The only possibility for cure in localized renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is surgery. Open radical nephrectomy (RN), as described by Robson, has long been the gold standard. Nevertheless, as a consequence of the increased use of abdominal imaging modalities, a continuing stage migration towards small, low-grade RCC lesions has become evident during the ...

LncRNA FAM13A-AS1 Promotes Renal Carcinoma Tumorigenesis Through Sponging miR-141-3p to Upregulate NEK6 Expression

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2022
Long non-coding RNAs are a diverse catalog of RNAs that have been implicated in various aspects of tumorigenesis. Emerging evidence indicates that they play crucial roles in tumor growth, disease progression, and drug resistance.

Evaluation of Cystic and Solid Renal Lesions with Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesUltrasound International Open, 2021
Purpose Renal lesions are frequent random findings on CT, MRI, and conventional ultrasound. Since they are usually found accidentally, the respective examinations have not been performed optimally to provide a

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Why Youth-Led Sexual Violence Prevention Programs Matter: Results from a Participatory Evaluation Project

open access: yesYouth
Sexual violence among adolescents remains a persistent social and public health issue. Prevention approaches tend to be designed and executed by adults, with young people serving limited roles. Getting young people involved in the field of prevention can

Whole‐Body Pattern of Muscle Degeneration and Progression in Sarcoglycanopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize whole‐body intramuscular fat distribution pattern in patients with sarcoglycanopathies and explore correlations with disease severity, duration and age at onset. Methods Retrospective, cross‐sectional, multicentric study enrolling patients with variants in one of the four sarcoglycan genes who underwent whole‐body ...

Constructing Ionic Fast Diffusion Channels on LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐modification strategy is developed for LNMO cathode, where bulk Ti doping stabilizes the oxygen framework and simultaneously drives the in situ formation of LaTi2O6 nano‐islands as ion diffusion channels on (111) surfaces, enabling high‐rate capacity (∼100 mAh g−1 at 30 C) and excellent cycling retention (87.8% after 1000 cycles).

The Gut Microbiota Activates AhR Through the Tryptophan Metabolite Kyn to Mediate Renal Cell Carcinoma Metastasis

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2021
Background: The incidence of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is increasing year by year. It is difficult to have complete treatment so far. Studies have shown that tryptophan metabolite Kynurenine (Kyn) affects cell proliferation, migration, apoptosis ...
