Modulation of the neuronal response in human primary visual cortex by re-entrant projections during retinal input processing as manifest in the visual evoked potential

open access: yesHeliyon
Initial deflections in the visual evoked potential (VEP) reflect the neuronal process of extracting features from the retinal input; a process not modulated by re-entrant projections. Later deflections in the VEP reflect the neuronal process of combining

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Intra-atrial Re-entrant Tachycardia

open access: yesIndian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal, 2003
A 15-year-old girl, previously asymptomatic for palpitations, underwent a successful atrial septal defect (ASD) device closure. Twelve weeks after the procedure, the patient was admitted complaining of dyspnoea on effort and palpitations.

Sinus and Atrioventricular Nodal Re-Entrant Tachycardia.

open access: yesInternal Medicine, 1993
A case of a 42-year-old woman who had combined sinus and atrioventricular nodal tachycardia is reported. Programmed atrial stimulation study showed the induction of the two types of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. The mechanisms of these supraventricular tachycardias were both sinus nodal and atrioventricular re-entrant tachycardia.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

In-Plane Compressive Responses of Non-Homogenous Re-Entrant Honeycombs Fabricated by Fused Deposition Modelling

open access: yesMicromachines
Auxetic structures, with re-entrant (inverted hexagonal or bow tie) unit cells, have received considerable interest due to their negative Poisson’s ratio property that results in superior mechanical properties.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Energy absorption enhancement in reinforced reentrant auxetic structures through primary to secondary strut interaction

open access: yesDiscover Mechanical Engineering
Re-entrant auxetic lattices exhibiting negative Poisson’s ratio behaviour are attractive for lightweight energy-absorbing applications. However, traditional re-entrant and hexagonal auxetic designs often exhibit low stiffness and premature cell collapse ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...
