Duck Orbivirus and Egg Production: A Newly Identified Duck Orbivirus Is the Etiological Agent of Egg Production Decline in Chinese Breeder Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Field samples from breeder duck farms with egg‐production decline were subjected to viral detection, genome sequencing, and virus isolation. Experimental infection demonstrated that duck orbivirus (DORV) causes a significant and persistent reduction in egg production in breeder ducks.

Combined effect of increasing the post‐reformer temperature and adding red mud as a secondary catalyst in the thermocatalytic reforming of digestate

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This work studies the combined effect of increasing the post‐reformer temperature and introducing red mud as a support catalyst in the thermocatalytic reforming (TCR®) of digestate. The TCR® method, developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT (abbreviated as Fraunhofer UMSICHT), is an extension

Thermodynamic and Economic Analysis of Cargo Boil-Off Gas Re-Liquefaction Systems for Ammonia-Fueled LCO2 Carriers

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
In this study, cargo boil-off gas (BOG) re-liquefaction systems for ammonia-fueled liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2) carriers were analyzed. These systems use cold energy from ammonia to reliquefy the CO2 BOG.

Simulating competition in the US bioeconomy to produce hard‐to‐electrify transportation fuels using limited biomass resources

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract This study presents a novel bioeconomy optimization framework, BiOpt, designed to address critical questions regarding the strategic use of limited US biomass resources for biofuel production. By integrating detailed techno‐economic analyses, life cycle assessments, and resource assessment data, BiOpt optimizes resource distributions across ...

Liquefaction potential in Sri Lanka - preparing a liquefaction hazard map using geotechnical investigation data

open access: yes, 2017
Soil Liquefaction is a process, where granular soils below the ground water table temporarily lose their strength due to cyclic loading created by an earthquake. Liquefied soil behaves as a viscous fluid rather than a solid.

Ensemble‐based soil liquefaction assessment: Leveraging CPT data for enhanced predictions

open access: yesCivil Engineering Design, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 23-35, March 2025.
Abstract This study focuses on predicting soil liquefaction, a critical phenomenon that can significantly impact the stability and safety of structures during seismic events. Accurate liquefaction assessment is vital for geotechnical engineering, as it informs the design and mitigation strategies needed to safeguard infrastructure and reduce the risk ...

INFLUENCE OF LIQUEFIED AND CCB CONTAINING LIQUEFIED WOOD ON GROWTH OF WOOD DECAY FUNGI

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2013
There are high amounts of post-consumed protected waste wood removed from service every year. The residual biocides, including copper, chromium and boron from CCB (Cu, Cr, B) in post-consumed wood that was protected with biocides may cause environmental ...

Comparative analysis of covalent bond cleavage and free radical behavior during the heating process in direct coal liquefaction of Naomaohu and Shangwan coals

open access: yesFuel Processing Technology
The cleavage of covalent bonds and the generation of radicals play a crucial role in product distribution during direct coal liquefaction (DCL). This paper systematically investigates the mechanisms of covalent bond cleavage and the behavior of free ...
