BOG ventilation and combustion in re-liquefaction plants of LNG carriers
A liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier is designed to transport LNG over a long distance. During transportation, the leakage of boil-off gas (BOG) along with poor ventilation can pose an explosion risk. The traditional method for dealing with the BOG is to burn the gas to power the ship.

Re-liquefaction resistance of lightly cemented sands
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 2022The re-liquefaction resistance of cemented sands under multiple liquefaction events such as pre-shock, main-shock, and after-shock earthquakes is a complex phenomenon because the response may alter due to bond breakage. A series of multistage liquefaction–re-consolidation soil element tests under undrained stress-controlled cyclic loading condition ...

Effects of impurities on re-liquefaction system of liquefied CO2 transport ship for CCS
International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control, 2015Abstract For EOR and EGR in the CCS, CO2 must be captured from large-scale CO2 emission sources like power plants, and transported to depleting oil and gas wells to maintain the reservoir pressure and enhance the recovery rate. To achieve this, CO2 should be transported over long distances from the emission sources of developed countries to oil and ...

CPT-based analysis of liquefaction and re-liquefaction following the Canterbury earthquake sequence
Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2015Abstract The Canterbury region experienced widespread damage due to liquefaction induced by seismic shaking during the 4 September 2010 earthquake and the large aftershocks that followed, notably those that occurred on 22 February, 13 June and 23 December 2011. Following the 2010 earthquake, the Earthquake Commission directed a thorough investigation

Multi-objective optimization of a joule cycle for re-liquefaction of the Liquefied Natural Gas
Applied Energy, 2011A LNG re-liquefaction plant is optimized with a multi-objective approach which simultaneously considers exergetic and exergoeconomic objectives. In this regard, optimization is performed in order to maximize the exergetic efficiency of plant and minimize the unit cost of the system product (refrigeration effect), simultaneously.

Comparative study of boil-off gas re-liquefaction processes for liquid ethylene vessels
Journal of Marine Science and Technology, 2018A re-liquefaction plant is essential for a liquid ethylene gas (LEG) vessel to liquefy the boil-off gas (BOG) and return it to the cargo tank. In this study, three potential BOG re-liquefaction processes for LEG vessels have been compared in terms of coefficient of performance (COP) and exergy efficiency.

Optimization and comparison of boiling-off gas re-liquefaction processes for liquid ethylene vessels
2016 IEEE 11th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2016Liquid Ethylene Gas (LEG), which is stored at − 103.7 °C and 0.1 MPa, is usually transported by vessels with a vacuum insulated tank over oceans and lakes, or along rivers. A part of LEG would be vaporized into Boil-Off Gas (BOG) due to the inevitable heat leakage. To guarantee the vessels safety, an on board re-liquefaction plant is widely equipped to
