Quantification of growth hormone in serum by isotope dilution mass spectrometry [PDF]
Inter-assay variation of antibody based routine tests is hampering comparability of measurement results for growth hormone (GH) between different laboratories and decision making in clinical practice. Here it is demonstrated, that quantification of GH by

The transition zone as a host for recycled volatiles: Evidence from nitrogen and carbon isotopes in ultra-deep diamonds from Monastery and Jagersfontein (South Africa) [PDF]
Sublithospheric (ultra-deep) diamonds provide a unique window into the deepest parts of Earth's mantle, which otherwise remain inaccessible. Here, we report the first combined C- and N-isotopic data for diamonds from the Monastery and Jagersfontein ...

SI‐bioATRP in Mesoporous Silica for Size‐Exclusion Driven Local Polymer Placement
An enzyme‐catalyzed surface‐initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI‐bioATRP) of an anionic monomer within mesoporous silica particles, using hemoglobin as a catalyst, allows for controlling the location of the formed polymer via size‐exclusion effects between the nanopores and the biomacromolecules, thereby opening routes to functional ...

New Equations for Atomic Mass, Mass per Nucleon and Mass defects of Elements in Terms of Rest Mass Based Neutron Numbers [PDF]
Conventional neutron numbers are based on the approximations that the mass of the electron is zero and that those of the proton and neutron are each equal to unity.

Stratification and Isotope Separation in CP Stars [PDF]
We investigate the elemental and isotopic stratification in the atmospheres of selected chemically peculiar (CP) stars of the upper main sequence. Reconfiguration of the UVES spectrograph in 2004 has made it possible to examine all three lines of the Ca ...

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Anomalous bond stretching phonons as a probe of charge fluctuations in perovskites [PDF]
Important information on momentum resolved low energy charge response can be extracted from anomalous properties of bond stretching in plane phonons observed in inelastic neutron and X-ray scattering in cuprates and some other perovskites.

Re-Os geochronology and coupled Os-Sr isotope constraints on the Sturtian snowball Earth [PDF]
Significance The causal mechanisms of global glaciations are poorly understood. The transition to a Neoproterozoic Snowball Earth after more than 1 Gy without glaciation represents the most dramatic episode of climate change in the geological record. Here we present new Re-Os geochronology, which, together with existing U-Pb ages,

Ru single atoms and RuP nanoclusters are co‐anchored in N, P, and B co‐doped porous carbon nanospheres via in situ carbonization/phosphidation of a boronate polymer precursor. RuP activates water, while nearby Ru single atoms accelerate H2 formation through H* transfer. The catalyst delivers low overpotential and high durability in alkaline HER and AEM
