Geographic Atrophy after Reabsorption of Pigment Epithelial Detachment (GARPED) study
Background To describe the occurrence, rate of geographic atrophy (GA) expansion, and changes in visual acuity (VA) after reabsorption of subfoveal pigment epithelial detachments (PED).

On slip of a viscous fluid through proximal renal tubule with linear reabsorption
The hydrodynamical problem of flow in proximal renal tubule is investigated. Axisymmetric flow of viscous, incompressible fluid through the proximal renal tubule that undergoes linear reabsorption with slip at the wall is considered.

Relationship of Sodium Reabsorption and Glomerular Filtration Rate to Renal Glucose Reabsorption [PDF]
Glucose reabsorption was measured in dogs in which sodium reabsorption was stimulated by obstruction of the thoracic inferior vena cava or inhibited by volume expansion with Ringer's lactate. Glucose reabsorption was much higher during periods of enhanced sodium reabsorption than during sodium diuresis.

Regulation of magnesium reabsorption in DCT [PDF]
The distal convoluted tubule (DCT) is the shortest segment of the nephron and consists of an early (DCT1) and late part (DCT2). Here, several transport proteins, like the thiazide-sensitive NaCl cotransporter (NCC) and the epithelial magnesium (Mg(2+)) channel (TRPM6), are exclusively expressed. This makes the DCT the major site of active transcellular

Photon reabsorption in fluorescent solar collectors [PDF]
Understanding photon transport losses in fluorescence solar collectors is very important for increasing optical efficiencies. We present an analytical expression to characterize photon reabsorption in fluorescent solar collectors, which represent a major

Effects of photon reabsorption phenomena in confocal micro-photoluminescence measurements in crystalline silicon [PDF]
Confocal micro-photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy has become a powerful characterization technique for studying novel photovoltaic (PV) materials and structures at the micrometer level.

Super Radiant Narrowing in Fluorescence Radiation of Inverted Populations [PDF]
The effect of resonance reabsorption of fluorescent radiation on the spectral distribution has been considered as early as 1913 by Laudenburg and Reivhe [1].

Ways of calcium reabsorption in the kidney [PDF]
The role of the kidney in calcium homeostasis has been reshaped from a classic view in which the kidney was regulated by systemic calcitropic hormones such as vitamin D3 or parathyroid hormone to an organ actively taking part in the regulation of calcium handling.

The role of renal transporters and novel regulatory interactions in the TAL that control blood pressure [PDF]
Hypertension (HTN), a major public health issue is currently the leading factor in the global burden of disease, where associated complications account for 9.4 million deaths worldwide every year (98).

Altered renal sodium handling and risk of incident hypertension: Results of the Olivetti Heart Study. [PDF]
Renal tubular sodium (Na) handling plays a key role in blood pressure (BP) regulation. Several cross-sectional studies reported a positive association between higher proximal tubule fractional reabsorption of Na and BP, but no prospective investigation ...
