Magnesium reabsorption in the kidney [PDF]
Mg2+ is essential for many cellular and physiological processes, including muscle contraction, neuronal activity, and metabolism. Consequently, the blood Mg2+ concentration is tightly regulated by balanced intestinal Mg2+ absorption, renal Mg2+ excretion, and Mg2+ storage in bone and soft tissues.

Objective Body mass index (BMI), glomerular filtration rate (GFR), and pretreatment urate levels have been reported to influence the urate‐lowering response to allopurinol. We investigated whether the fractional excretion of uric acid (FEUA) also modulates this response and relates to oxypurinol concentrations.

Bone reabsorption associated with silicone implants in mentoplasty: a clinical case report [PDF]
For many years, silicone implants were used in reconstructive and esthetic surgeries, especially in cases in which the facial profile of patients presented deficiencies in the inferior third of the face.

Profile Shapes for Optically Thick X-ray Emission Lines from Stellar Winds [PDF]
We consider the consequences of appreciable line optical depth for the profile shape of X-ray emission lines formed in stellar winds. The hot gas is thought to arise in distributed wind shocks, and the line formation is predominantly via collisional ...

Continuous optical loading of a Bose-Einstein Condensate in the Thomas-Fermi regime
We discuss the optical loading of a Bose-Einstein condensate in the Thomas-Fermi regime. The condensate is loaded via spontaneous emission from a reservoir of excited-state atoms.

Hypernatremia inhibits NaHCO3 reabsorption and associated NaCl reabsorption in dogs
To examine the effect of selective rise of plasma NaCl concentration (hypernatremia) on NaHCO3 reabsorption and associated NaCl reabsorption remaining during continuous ethacrynic acid infusion, hypertonic NaCl solution was infused in three groups of anesthetized volume-expanded dogs.

The NNR‐n series of oligomeric nanographenes delivers exceptional emission performance. This work shows that this performance is originated by their ladder‐type structure, which effectively deactivates low‐frequency vibronic modes. This deactivation neglects the main pathway for non‐emissive deactivation, even in the near‐infrared region. The potential
