On stationary solutions to reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal term

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we obtain the existence of a radial solution for some elliptic nonlocal problem with constraints. The problem arises from some reaction-diffusion equation modelling among others system of self-gravitating particles when one looks for its stationary solutions.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Effect of Oxygen Content on Surface and Subsurface Integrity During Turning of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how oxygen content in the ambient atmosphere affects the surface and subsurface properties of Ti–6Al–4V during turning. Results show that oxygen does not influence surface roughness. However, machining in an extremely high vacuum‐adequate atmosphere increases surface hardness by up to 7.8% and induces compressive residual stresses ...

Asymptotic behavior of a predator-prey diffusion system with time delays

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2005
In this paper, we study a class of reaction-diffusion systems with time delays, which models the dynamics of predator-prey species. The global asymptotic convergence is established by the upper-lower solutions and iteration method in terms of the ...

On Modelling the Roles Played by Diffusive and Convective Transport in Limestone Dissolution for Wet Flue Gas Desulphurisation

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2015
Limestone dissolution has been widely studied because of its importance in different fields, a common assumption has been to consider that the roles of mass transport and chemical reaction change as a function of pH.

Reaction-Diffusion System with Additional Source Term Applied to Image Restoration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Applications, 2016
Many noisy texture images require the enhancement of coherent structures in various applications. Traditional TVbased methods make the denoising fail when the data-fitting weight parameter λ is strong, on the contrary, reducing the corresponding parameter λ may distort the textures, and generate staircase artifacts.

Oxide‐Free Titanium Coatings by Wire Arc Spraying in a Silane‐Doped Inert Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A silane‐doped argon atmosphere enables the production of oxide‐free titanium coatings via twin‐wire arc spraying at ambient pressure. This innovative approach eliminates residual oxygen, creating process conditions that prevent oxidation and nitride formation.

Reaction layer formation at the graphite/copper-chromium alloy interface [PDF]

open access: yes
Sessile drop tests were used to obtain information about copper chromium alloys that suitably wet graphite. Characterization of graphite/copper-chromium alloy interfaces subjected to elevated temperatures were conducted using scanning electron ...

Wavefront solutions for reaction–diffusion–convection models with accumulation term and aggregative movements

open access: yesNonlinear Differential Equations and Applications NoDEA
In this paper we analyze the wavefront solutions of parabolic partial differential equations of the type \[ g(u)u_τ+f(u)u_{x}=\left(D(u)u_{x}\right)_{x}+ρ(u),\quad u\left(τ,x\right)\in[0,1] \] where the reaction term $ρ$ is of monostable-type. We allow the diffusivity $D$ and the accumulation term $g$ to have a finite number of changes of sign.

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.
