Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Neutron-induced cross sections of short-lived nuclei via the surrogate reaction method

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
The measurement of neutron-induced cross sections of short-lived nuclei is extremely difficult due to the radioactivity of the samples. The surrogate reaction method is an indirect way of determining cross sections for nuclear reactions that proceed ...

Nuclear Radii of Unstable Nuclei

open access: yes, 2011
In the presented review we discuss the problem of extraction the parameters of nuclear matter and charge distribution in stable and unstable isotopes.

Nucleus–nucleus reaction cross sections for deformed nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica Scripta, 2008
Reaction cross-sections are calculated using the Coulomb modified Glauber model for deformed target nuclei. The deformed nuclear matter density of the target is expanded into multipoles of order k = 0,2,4.The reaction cross-sections between some spherical and deformed nuclei are studied at energy range (10-1000 MeV/nucleon).

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Fusion, elastic and total reaction cross sections in the collision 6Li+64Zn

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2011
The structure of the weakly bound nuclei is expected to influence the fusion mechanism at energies around and below the Coulomb barrier. Infact direct channels may be favoured with respect to fusion by the low binding energies, while Coupling of the ...

Coherent Photoproduction of pi^+ from 3^He

open access: yes, 2010
We have measured the differential cross section for the $\gamma$$^3$He$\rightarrow \pi^+ t$ reaction. This reaction was studied using the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) at Jefferson Lab.

Charged-current neutrino-208Pb reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present theoretical results on the non flux-averaged $^{208}Pb(\nu_{e},e^-)^{208}Bi$ and $^{208}Pb(\nu_{\mu},\mu^-)^{208}Bi$ reaction cross sections, obtained within the charge-exchange Random-Phase-Approximation.
