Cold-Induced Precipitation of a Monoclonal IgM: A Negative Activation Enthalpy Reaction

open access: yes, 2015
Cold-induced precipitation of a monoclonal IgM cryoglobulin isolated from a patient with Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia was observed to have a negative activation enthalpy. The rate of the reaction increased, as the temperature decreased.

Embedded Direct Ink Writing of Thermoset and Elastomeric Polymers via Frontal Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Embedded frontal polymerization direct ink writing (FP‐DIW) combines frontal ring‐opening metathesis polymerization with embedded 3D printing to decouple deposition from curing. A yield‐stress support bath stabilizes low‐viscosity inks, while on‐demand thermal initiation enables controlled front propagation. This approach expands the accessible feature

In silico design of hydrazone antioxidants and analysis of their free radical-scavenging mechanism by thermodynamic studies

open access: yesBeni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences, 2019
Background Antioxidants are very crucial in maintaining the normal function of body cells, as they scavenge excess free radical in the body. A set of hydrazone antioxidants was designed by in silico screening.

Methods for synthesizing diethyl carbonate from ethanol and supercritical carbon dioxide by one-pot or two-step reactions in the presence of potassium carbonate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Carbon dioxide sequestration was studied by synthesizing diethyl carbonate (DEC) from ethanol and CO2 under supercritical conditions in the presence of potassium carbonate as a base. The co-reagent was ethyl iodide or a concentrated strong acid.

Designing Vanadium‐Based Oxide Electrocatalysts for Water Splitting: Experimental and Mechanistic Insights with Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review establishes structure‐property‐mechanism relationships across six modification strategies for V‐based oxide water‐splitting electrocatalysts: lattice engineering, heteroatom doping, interface engineering, carbon‐based hybridization, morphology engineering, and surface reconstruction and pre‐catalyst design, where dissolution is reframed as ...

Standard Enthalpy of Formation of CuAl2O4 Revisited

open access: yes, 2015
Due to discrepancy in the standard enthalpy of formation, ΔH_f^0, of copper(II) aluminate (CuAl2O4) reported in thermodynamic databases, the calculated reaction enthalpy, ΔH_r, of CuAl2O4 with reducing gases varies considerably.

Synergistic Integration of Liquid Crystalline Ordering and Dynamic Networks for Ultrarobust Bismaleimide Vitrimers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A liquid‐crystalline bismaleimide vitrimer integrates local mesogenic organization with exchange‐active ester connectivity, achieving a glass‐transition temperature near 300°C while remaining reprocessable. Stress‐relaxation analysis and temperature‐dependent remolding reveal how segmental mobility, network rearrangement, and structural integrity ...

Acetoacetates Derived From Vegetable Oils: A Platform for Tailor‐Made Vinylogous Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A renewable vegetable oil is converted into acetoacetate‐functionalized precursors for the preparation of catalyst‐free vinylogous urethane foams. Room‐temperature foaming with n‐pentane generates lightweight cellular materials, while the choice of amine enables control over foam structure and mechanical properties.

A Computational Study to Determine Thermodynamic Properties for Hydrogen Production from Sodium Borohydride Reaction

open access: yesChemistry Proceedings
Because of fossil fuel depletion and its inevitable danger to the environment, researchers have worked on alternative fuel sources like hydrogen (H2), which can be obtained via renewable energy sources like biomass, solar, geothermal, ocean, wind ...
