Analysis and field test on reactive capability of photovoltaic power plants based on clusters of inverters

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2017
With the increasing capacity of photovoltaic (PV) power plants connected to power systems, PV plants are often required to have some reactive power control capabilities to participate in reactive power regulation.

Design of A Single-Phase Transformerless Grid-Connected PV Inverter ‎Considering Reduced Leakage Current and LVRT Grid Codes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Operation and Automation in Power Engineering, 2021
A new single-phase transformerless grid-connected PV inverter is presented in this paper. Investigations in transformerless grid-connected PV inverters indicate the existence of the leakage current is directly related to the variable common-mode voltage (

Reactive Power Dispatch Method in Wind Farms to Improve the Lifetime of Power Converter Considering Wake Effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In Wind Farms (WF), the most popular and commonly implemented active power control method is the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). Due to the wake effect, the upstream Wind Turbine (WT) in WFs has more active power generation than the downstream WT at

The unified power quality conditioner: the integration of series and shunt-active filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
This paper deals with unified power quality conditioners (UPQCs), which aim at the integration of series-active and shunt-active power filters. The main purpose of a UPQC is to compensate for voltage flicker/imbalance, reactive power, negative-sequence ...

Reactive Power Control Method for Enhancing the Transient Stability Total Transfer Capability of Transmission Lines for a System with Large-Scale Renewable Energy Sources

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
With the increased proportion of intermittent renewable energy sources (RES) integrated into the sending-end, the total transfer capability of transmission lines is not sufficient during the peak periods of renewable primary energy (e.g., the wind force),

Reactive power capability of WECS based on matrix converter

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2008
The reactive power capability of a variable speed wind energy conversion system (WECS), based on an induction generator fed by a matrix converter is presented. A simplified analysis is performed neglecting the system losses. It is demonstrated that the maximum reactive power that can be supplied to the grid is ∼40% of the nominal power.

Study of voltage fluctuations caused in a distribution grid by the connection of a wave energy converter and corrective actions based on reactive power compensation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Renewable energies, in general, have considerably increased their penetration in electrical power systems. However, they are intermittent energy sources, and large amounts of this power could create problems for the proper operation of the electrical ...
