Reactive power compensation for wind power plants
2009 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2009This technical paper provides the basic guidelines for the application of reactive compensation systems to be used as part of a wind power plant. A brief history of wind plant reactive compensation system is discussed, then the fundamental needs of why reactive compensation is required.

Reactive power compensation by power electronic drive
Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2002The paper presents a concept of reactive power compensation using an electric drive system. The priority task is to supply the electric drive with active power. The amount of the reactive power component that can be generated to the supply line by the drive system depends on electric drive power demand and the transistor converter power ratings.
